Plattling webcam

These links give information of where timetabled freight should be (the grey info is freight). It doesn't account for live information if the freight is early/late or cancelled but it should give some useful information. The kbs number is the train line reference which you can change to get a different area. These are the lines that serve Plattling

It works quite well. For example there is a car train in Plattling right now (the live map shows nothing in Plattling, but one recently has left). You type the dgs number (the freight identifier in google/flickr) and look for a train with similar wagons. So the car train in Plattling right now is the Gyor (Hungary) to Bremen freight.

Dr.Gerbil-Fritters, a suggestion.

Go to the platform end nearest the webcam. Phone a friend, and tell him to go on to the Plattling webcam. Wave at the camera, and get your friend to do a screengrab as you are waving. A wonderful souvenir of your day in Plattling!

Recently, the sidings over the right hand side, where the slurry tanks are parked, seem to have been extended, and there seems to have been more track laid and trees cleared in that area. From what we've seen, these sidings seem to be used by 'private' operators rather than DB.

You should have hopped on the S-Bahn to the next stop east, München-Trudering, where you would see even more freight coming round from the northern ring heading for Austria, in addition to most of what you would have seen passing through München-Ost.

It really has been fascinating watching the works over the past couple of days.

Those orange diesels are Northrail class 261s, similar to their DB counterparts. Basically a 21st century V90, at home shunting in a yard or hauling freight and trip workings.
