S.A.C Martin
New City of Truro Model Can't believe this hasn't been picked up - City of Truro, NRM edition, in 3717 livery
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted August 17, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2010 Very nice. Thanks for the heads up but the horrible front coupling is still there.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 17, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2010 A bit confusing as the text refers to unlined livery and black frames but the loco in the pic is well and truly lined, er, with black frames.
Chameleon
Id guess the photo is a doctored one of the original model. All they have done is coloured the frames black. Hopefully the model itself will be accurate.
AMJ
I was in the NRM on Sunday and they had them on sale at £150 (black frames 3717), £140 for 3440 and £195 for the posh collectors edition.
Ozexpatriate
New City of Truro Model The original link 404s. There is a new path to No. 3717. It still looks nice. I bought the earlier posh collectors' edition. I'm tempted again but it feels too soon.
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted August 18, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 18, 2010 I was in the NRM on Sunday and they had them on sale at £150 (black frames 3717), £140 for 3440 and £195 for the posh collectors edition. Thanks. Did you notice if the new version w. black frames is lined or not? (as mentioned above the photo contradicts the description).
coachmann
As far as I can recollect, the lined out model with black frames is correct. Along with many others, I subscribed to the real locos repaint.
WhiteRoseRambler
Can anyone tell me which livery it would have had when working the Scarborough Spa Express in the 1980s? Many thanks Chris
Coppercap
Wot? No-one admitted to actually ordering one yet? I have the 'Indian Red' frames version, but honestly, I would have preferred to have had this new version in my collection first. But I suppose the first model was of Truro's condition at the time the first model was released. Ah, well, that'll be another £154.95 leaving my account............... Karl
I am fairly certain that it would have been in the livery of the first model release in the 1980's Scarboroughs. Yeah I gave in and bought it in this livery having already got the first one! I think it looks better in this livery having seen the real thing in both. 298
Damn. Can someone suggest a good way to find £150...? I've tried saving that amount on my car insurance but only managed about a tenner.

Karl
Arrived less than 24 hours after the order was placed! Amazing service! It is in the fully lined livery as indicated on the nrm website image. I've attached a photo of it, not great one really but you'll at least see the livery. It is a superb paint job!
amdaley
Yes its a beautiful looking loco but at £150 not for me thanks. That front coupling is just awful. I suppose anyone who wants can replace it with something a bit more appropriate but at that price surely it shouldn't be necessary to replace anything ? I suppose anyone who wants can replace it with something a bit more appropriate but at that price surely it shouldn't be necessary to replace anything ? The front coupling is a necessary evil - one at each end. Someone will want to couple it for a tender-first run, somewhere. In any event, it has been shown that if you're careful, you can remove it and make it look fine.
Coppercap
Just ordered mine, hopefully here tomorrow! God, I hope I'm the one who answers the door to the postman, otherwise I'm for it!!
craigwelsh
Bachmann still can't line boilers on GWR locos I see, i'd thought they'd improved since the Hall came out but seems not. Being able to unscrew the coupling box from the bogie might have been a worthwhile feature.
298
Do you still get a spare bogie...? Although it is lined, the black livery should make it easier to carve the coupling box off.

Yes there is a spare bogie in the box and etched plates etc.
coachmann
Boiler bands are routinely too narrow so Hornby & Bachmann do not help themselves. The green is a delight though. Anyone at Hornby watching? At £150, its a gift, unless of course you don't want one.
craigwelsh
At £150, its a gift, unless of course you don't want one. It which case it becomes an eBay money making scheme . Boiler bands could be painted straight on to the boiler really anyway with the paint they use making up the thickness.
