Mount Washington Cog Railway

I didn't take the train (we drove up) to the top of Mt Washington but I did get some photographs of the steam train and the bio-diesel. The weather was "as advertised" that day but although we didn't get any scenic views it was worth the trip.

I do have some photographs of the track and the diesel if anyone would like me to post them.

It's near on 20 years since I went on that. Apart from precarious trackwork in places it's not as rewarding a ride as Snowdon even though it's a lot higher. Had a better day when I drove up t'other side on a crystal clear morning.

Our drive up was interesting. I hadn't ever driven an automatic until this holiday in the US. There was a H&S talk from the ranger person at the bottom. My wife was quite apprehensive at this point but I didn't see how it could be worse than the Grossglockner in a Hyundai Getz. Anyway the drive was no problem but once we were at the top the weather closed in. Before the rain started I did get one close up of the track.
