Hi Vac Basher,

Yellowvanman, my brother, mentioned in his post 186 that the NSE 50 at Brockenhurst was one of only two he had seen down our way. The other being a 50 on a test train, which is the one I was thinking was 50036.biggrin.gif hope that clears that upwink.gif

Righty-ho! I see what you mean.

I hadn't heard that expression for years. "oh my lords!"

Eagle arrives at Andover on a dismal day December 1988.

I wouldn't want to insist, but that looks terribly like Exeter Central to me.

A rare shot of Collingwood in unbranded NSE livery October 1990

That really is a rarity to see a photo of 05 like that, as it was only unbranded for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for sharing your photos, but Ark Royal, I wish you'd post the caption for each photo directly above or below it. Keep them coming anyway!

A couple more 50 pictures below - quality not perfect but they were both taken early in the day. I do have a picture of a Class 121 SPC with "upturned ends" to the stripes, not scanned at present.

Snapped this at Havenstreet on Isle if Wight at the beginning of May...

Not really sure what it is though

It's a Permaquip trolley, configured as a personnel carrier. The IoWSR acquired two of them in 2004 and this one has apparently taken a lot of effort to make it work reliably. The NSE livery was applied last December as a tribute to the support the railway received from NSE during Chris Green's reign.

Hi,

Some very colourful coaching combinations there! Can you recall which services these were? Were they ex-Penzance or Penzance bound? Summer Saturday traffic to Newquay?

Best regards,

Jeremy

Waterloo Depot 1992

attachicon.gifwc.jpeg

A rare photo of the hidden sidings at Waterloo! This was accessed by the other "forgotten" lift on the right hand siding, I forget the siding numbers as it's ove 25 years since I worked on the W&C. That lift was also used to get coal wagons up to the power station when that was in use.

In later years the passenger stock was moved to the workshop by hand! This workshop was actually at road level, and was accessed at road level from the roadway under platform 1 where the BRSA was re-located.

A friend of my parents tried to organize work experience for me at Wimbledon Depot (when I was 15) but it fell through at the last minute.  As he felt bad about it, he organised a day for me to visit Waterloo depot in the morning and then a cab ride to Basingstoke in the afternoon.  I was shown around the depot at Waterloo and was then invited to have a cab ride to Bank and back.  Great memories.

Thanks, but I am sure it is a different version but similar. Just looked in Departmental book states it is an ex LMS P111 RK dia 1912 Derby 1938 lot 1081.

Cheers.
