There is another new version of the index now available on the website, same link as above. This is a new combined effort with the UKmodelshops directory where we have merged the two indexes. There is some duplication of data at the moment but that will be remedied as time permits. The index is still an Excel spreadsheet but it is now a big file, roughly 1.5MB. The file can be downloaded so if you are familiar with Excel you can manipulate the data to suit your own needs and you don't need to be online to search for something. I hope everybody finds it useful.

Just to confirm the above, we are now working together to provide you with a new improved index with even more references to articles in this ever popular magazine.

However, this is also a golden opportunity for users to let us know if you would like to see anything else added to the index.

If you would like to get in touch please let us know here -

I've just uploaded the latest version of the index and updates now take place monthly, so I hope you all find it useful. The downloadable Excel file is on our club website as shown above and the online searchable version is on the UKmodelshops site, again there is a link above.

Can't download the index from the Huddersfield MRC website..... :scared:

I managed to download it on the 23rd March (version 167) & it works fine. I see that the site was last updated on 26th March, so something has gone pear shaped?

The link looks wrong. Sent them an email.

Edit. Got an error message to say mailbox full. Probably gone away for Easter & too many messages complaining.

Edit 25/4/12 Still getting the same problem. Anyone else had any luck? The online version seems to be an issue behind (its up to 166) the one I downlosed back on 23/3/12 included issue 167.

Sorry guys, I let another member update some of his work on the site and somehow the home page got screwed up and I didn't notice. It is now working again. The latest version covering up to issue 169 should be available later today.

Revised version up to issue 169 now uploaded and available. Once again my apologise for the loss of service. Also sorry about the date mistake on the April 2012 issue, This was of course a tryping error which is easy to make when you use the Excel 'drag' features.

I was going to highlight the 'tryping' bit myself, but didn't bother. I saw this many years ago and it made me laugh, so I have done it several times since.

The index has proved very useful to a lot of members but unless you have the copy with the information you want it can be a bit of a struggle to get a copy (fortunately I have every issue). It is just a shame that due to the copyright rules members can't send scans of articles etc., to other members. Still, we wouldn't want to get Andy into any bother would we!!!

No need to apologise for that - I guessed it was a typo and at the moment it's easy to recognise as such. However I thought I'd point it out as it had the potential to cause confusion by this time next year!

I suspected it was a deliberate mistake...err, hmm. I only have issue 3 onwards so you are lucky to have the original Tetley Mills issue. I'm jealous!!

An aside. Do you know if there are any photos available of Huddersfield MRCs Kirkby Stephen layout? (I'm assuming you are a member). It has appeared in Railway Modeller and Hornby Mag, but I'd like to see some more.

To everyone who has, and is participating in keeping this work updated you have my neverending thanks.

Hi Jeff

Kirkby Stephen West is actually my own layout, it isn't a club layout although I run it with members from the club. It is scheduled to be in Railway Modeller again in November this year. I see you are based in Stockton, the layout will be at Derby show in a couple of weeks but it is a bit of a trek for you, it will also be at the club show this year at the end of October. PM me with your email address if you want some more info and we can discuss it off Forum, so as not to clog up the thread.

Sorry about the delay in updating the index guys, but I STILL havn't received my November Subscription copy of MR despite three phone calls to the subscription department, who now tell me they are out of stock, so I can't have one. I'll just have to try to get hold of a second hand copy.

Just contact Jane in the Model Rail editorial office - see the postings under November issue regarding missing subs copies.
