60091
Hi folks, Not a huge amount to report due to life getting in the way recently. The Transclyde 107 is now complete but the interior lights don't seem to be working at the moment, so it's been returned to the works for attention. With the nights really drawing in now, I managed to nip down to the station last night to see what was about... Here I am, arriving on a loco-hauled DMU substitute service from Fife behind 47102. I'm able to take photographs of myself back in the '80s now thanks to some fiendish modifications to my space-time displacement machine. 47636b.jpg Me.jpg 47102a.jpg 47636 was waiting time in Platform 15 ready to depart for Inverness... 47636 1.jpg 47s a.jpg Not much more has been done on 150001 since my last confession, as I've been concentrating on finishing off the 107. The driver's cab doorways are now finished though, so the next job will be to fit the handrails and then come up with a good solution for the doors themselves. Then it will be on to some serious chassis cutting to produce the chassis for the centre car. Happy modelling one and all! Cheers Dave Superb photos...so much atmosphere.. Instantly reminded me of my first trainspotting visit to Waverley. A freezing cold late afternoon back in January 1981. Cheers Alan

Popular Post Waverley West
Cheers guys, Here are a few miscellaneous photos of this afternoon's session, which involved successfully test-running the Transclyde 107 and making a start on installation of the signal on the main line next to Haymarket depot. Some busy scenes as the pre-Christmas rush gets underway... 107439, now finally released from the works and in regular service, departs for Glasgow... 47593 and 47492 parked in the yard... 47714 undergoes some light repairs... D200 and 47541 await their next duties... Later, the Transclyde 107 returns from Glasgow through Princes St. Gardens... RMweb Premium PaternosterRow Posted December 31, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 31, 2017 Seems like an age since I spent anytime on RMweb, but every time I return I always have a look in at your blog. It is an absolute pleasure to view your pics and I’m always ‘double taking’ at them. This has to be the most perfect layout currently in the hobby. Simply because it’s complete and fully working - you don’t mess about, do you? I also love the pics and description of the whole layout - should be an update every two months in the magazines. Thank you for posting and giving the rest of us constant inspiration. Happy New Year and wish you happy modelling for 2018. Keep posting whatever you do. Regards, Mike. It's the feedback I get, yours included, that makes posting on here so worthwhile. I love your diorama shots by the way. If WW shows anything, I hope it's that with a little willingness to compromise (ready to run track, foreshortening of distances, etc.) and a little courage (weathering and detailing/modifying of RTR stock and so on, plus lots of plasticard), it's possible to build something that stirs memories and recreates the atmosphere of a real place in a relatively small area. I fully intend to keep posting and have enough plans for the layout to keep me busy for many years yet. Cheers and thanks again, Dave

Popular Post Waverley West
A very happy and healthy New Year everyone! Just thought I'd post a pic or two of wot I dun on my Xmas hols this year... I spent my spare moments making some buildings for the inside of the shed on Road 8 at the depot. The building on the left is the original Mechanical Foreman's office. In the middle is a ramp which I think leads to a door in the wall of the building which leads through to the inspection platforms in the adjacent building. On the right is another office which was located in the far left-hand corner of the building. It wasn't easy trying to work out the geometry and relative positions of the various structures based on a very limited number of somewhat murky shots of the interior of the building. These structures represent a simplified and scaled down version of what I think I am seeing in the photos. Basic painting is now under way, still a bit bright at this stage of course. There's plenty of detailing still to do as well. Santa brought me a couple of Kernow Models' Tiger bogie china clay wagons this year, which will be added to my Speedlink rake. Hope to be back soon with some more updates. Cheers for now, Dave

Popular Post Waverley West
Hi folks, Well, 2018 has started with modelling time still at a premium, but I've been squeezing in 5 mins here and there just to keep things ticking over. I find this helps to maintain my modelling mojo, which hasn't been lacking lately fortunately. The signal outside the depot has now been installed. This gantry is based on the prototype gantry outside the depot and was expertly built by Matt at Absolute Aspects, signalling having always been something of a dark art to me. The design of the gantry has been modified to fit in with the track layout on WW. I think it looks right at home there. Here's a quick shot of it taken in rapidly fading light. I'll post some better pics of it when the light's better. For some time now, Bob, the mechanical foreman, has been complaining that the bulb has gone in his office. As always when bulbs need changing, replacing it was a big job which entailed removal of both the roof and ceiling ( ). This job has now finally been completed and Bob is happily working all hours in his office again... The other major project on the go recently has been the interior for the loco shed on Road 8. I've made some offices and a ramp to fit inside this shed based on photos I've accumulated over the years. These are now finished and have just had a trial installation. Frustratingly, the light in one of the offices doesn't seem to be working, so it looks like a little repair work is in order which will involve removal of the office from the building which will be a pain. I should have thought of this possibility before I installed it of course, but the light was working perfectly before! Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the way these have turned out... I have also fitted a door to the back of the shed which now enables an interior view of the shed to be taken from the other direction, looking out of the shed... I sneaked round the shed last night and peered through the window and managed to take this shot of one of the offices with a conversation going on about what to do about the all too frequent flashovers on the 47/7 traction motors. Speaking of 47/7s, 47710 is out of service at the moment, with persistent derailing problems. It's a strange one because supposedly identical Bachmann 47/7, no. 47714, doesn't suffer from the same problems. Poor trackwork is partly to blame but virtually all other locos run fine. Hope to be back soon with some more updates. Having seen Peter's (PCM) excellent videos on his layout thread, I thought I might try taking a video or two of the layout with my (ageing) mobile phone to see whether I can get some decent quality videos that way. Cheers for now,Dave Edited January 24, 2018 by Waverley West

Signaller69
Fantastic attention to detail Dave as always, not often you see a detailed office interior in a building INSIDE a loco depot! Hope replacing the defective bulb doesn't cause too many headaches!
