Members' Day 2011 - Stafford - Full line-up announced.

I'm delighted with the line-up that we've got for this year at our new venue. Thank you to all of the 'exhibitors' who stepped forward to make this a mouth-watering must-see and I apologise for the 'delay' in confirming the line-up but there's been a lot more than usual to organise behind the scenes.

For anyone who has attended a Members' Day there's no need to explain the form but as there's a lot of new readers around it's maybe worth explaining that this isn't a full blown exhibition; it's a more relaxed and convivial occasion allowing you to get to know the layout builders, operators and other members. There isn't an entrance fee as such but I'll be kicking off a raffle in June that supports the costs of running the site and such events as this which everyone is able to partake in with a chance to win something in return.

Date: Saturday 02 July 2011

Venue: St Leonards Sports & Social Club, St Leonards Works, St Leonard's Ave, Stafford ST17 4LX

Open Hours: 10.00 - 16.00

If there any other additions to be made please contact me ASAP.

I've attached a provisional floorplan for those interested and adapt if necessary.

I've summarised other information found in the original announcement topic below.

On-site free parking

1.25 miles from Stafford station

Viable bus services from the station to and close to the venue.

The No.2 is the only service to go past the venue but this meanings walking to the stop on Earl Street (500m from station) - timetable - this is, however, only an hourly service so I would recommend using the 74 (hourly) or 825 (half-hourly) services which go from the station past the end of St. Leonard's Avenue which leaves a 500m walk as shown below.

Recommended routes to the venue:

From the north & M6 - http://goo.gl/maps/LRFo

From the east - http://goo.gl/maps/HHgb

From the west - http://goo.gl/maps/1pqG

Free Teas and Coffees available all day.

We will be providing breakfast and lunch for exhibitors and visitors will be able to 'enjoy' the same lunch option for a small donation (subject to exhibitors not scoffing it all ;)).

Tables are provided for those wishing to sit, socialise, eat and drink.

I do believe that although the new venue may not be as 'charismatic' with rolling stock around and a filthy floor but should prove to be a little more suitable and less last-minute headaches.

I would like to ask if there are any willing volunteers who could assist with the following.

Car parking (2) to assist in pointing exhibitors and visitors to the right spots (7.30 - 10.00)

Setting up (2 from 07.30 to 08.00) (4 people from 08.00) to assist with marking out and assisting unloading.

Clear-up (6) to assist in loading, tables, chairs and sweep-out.

Ian and I reviewed the bring and buy stand and didn't feel it merited tying someone up all day with the amount of purchases that were made.

I've not decided whether to have the bar open yet (say 12.00 - 3.00) as it will mean paying a member of staff and would invite feedback.

I'd like to encourage as many members to come along as possible; it will be a really enjoyable day.

As a footnote I'd like to thank Coombe Barton for his signature image which I shall be using until the date too and if anyone else wishes to it helps spread the message.

I must say that I'm honored to be invited again to bring Summat :thankyou: I've also agreed a little extra space at the side to also bring Fourgig East in whatever state it's in by July. At least members will be able to view the O gauge Scalescenes buildings :)

The 2-8-2 and Standard Eight will slo be in attendance, if there's anything that I have built over the years that anyone particularly wants to see just let me know and I'll bring it along 8)

That'll mean Scalescenes products will be in evidence from 1:450 scale through to 1:43. blink.gif

Ha, under it Ian???

You mean inside it!

I actually think the T-gauge warehouse could even fit inside one of the staircases in 'O'

Sounds like it's going to be a fun day, need to find things to bring now as T-gauge doesn't fill a lot of space!

Yes, the T gauge footbridge will look good under my O gauge one

Really looking forward to going, got my train tickets through the post last week. Interested to see the layout planning clinic and hopefully get some ideas.

Should be a good day.

Firstly Andy & all involved, love the slideshow. If that can't sell an event, nothing can!

I'll chuck my name into the ring for my (much missed last year - not! ) efforts with car parking & unloading. Also, if there's any second thoughts regarding the sales stand, 'd be more than happy to put a 1/2 day shift in behind it if it would help?

I've had to eat humble pie and admit I'd overlooked a couple of fine layouts as part of the discussed plans which have now been addressed and added taking it up to a whopping 17 layouts!

"I'll bill it as a DCC Controller advice clinic", he said.

So what you'll be getting is a couple of ovals of track and an Inglenook with DCC operated points. Lenz 90 (2 handsets), Dynamis (2 handsets), Digitrax Zephyr (with DC 'jump throttle'), Gaugemaster Prodigy (wired and wireless handset) and Bachmann E-Z and command companion on a table that can be connected to one or more of the tracks. This gives the ability to try different controllers and the multi-operator freindliness of each.

Meanwhile a towering pile of assorted new and pre-loved paraphernalia will provide retail therapy for those whose beer vouchers are burning a hole in their pocket. A marketplace-style donation to RMweb funds will be forthcoming if anyone is foolish enough to purchase!

And if anyone cares to bring along an NCE PowerCab for people to play with, I'd be happy to include that in the mix.

Will be visiting from the USA so will try and make it for this - never thought I would get to attend one and looks like a great line up of layouts. Hope to see you there...

PS - I'll put a vote in for the bar! :drinks:
