Seacows (YGB) in Munich, Germany

Hi

On my way to Munich airport yesterday in the very small hours, in Feldmoching I saw wagons that resembled the appearance of the british Seacow ballast wagons type. I was proved right later the day on my return in daylight. So I went there again today to take some photos. It appears that about 30+ wagons of the YGB type are sitting in a siding in Feldmoching, Munich. Maybe the wagons are for the announced engineering possession of the S-Bahn core line which is partly underground? They seem to have arrived on there own wheels as there was a special permission attached to each wagon.

The wagons seem to have got an examination and new wheels between February and April 2011.

With a tele lens the exporter reads DB Schenker, Lakeside, Carolina, Doncaster.

Now I'm not so sure!

Last week's move was 6B67 Wembley-Dollands Moor with loco 92026 and 41 Seacows departing Wembley 15May. The only one I can read from your pics is 980148 and that doesn't seem to be in the list allocated to 6B67 that night!

There had been an earlier movement of a smaller number of wagons to Dolland's Moor. I'm told that 50 wagons are being sent to Romania; I've different stories as to whether they've been sold to someone there, or whether they've simply been sent for refurbishment. The wagons were at Frethun on Wednesday afternoon.

9 seacows including 980148 were in the consist of 6O89 Didcot-Dollands Moor 21Apr. They hung around in DM yard for ages. Not sure if they were attached to the 15/16May move or slipped through the Tunnel just before.

Many thanks for the Interesting responses Metr0Land and Brian.

To pity if they are directed for Romania. Had hoped they would be used round here for some time. I could not record all the numbers as I could'nt get near all of them and they were obscured by trees. I probably didn't try hard enough. The numbers I have are:

DB980104

DB980020

DB980154

DB980039

DB980129

DB980000

DB980016

DB980171

DB980148

DB980055

DB980137

DB980134

DB980080

DB980106

On Friday 20. May 04:30 the wagons already sat in the siding. The destination of the special permission is not readable. We had a heavy thunderstorm in the night from Thursday to Friday which eliminated the interesting handwriting parts. It reads, in short, "due to the expiration of the examination cycles, the running capability and operational reliability has been evaluated. The wagon may be moved once empty or loaded on it's own wheels without restrictions to the permitted speed."

They're headed for Logistic Servies Danubius (DB in Romania),

somewhere in the Mintia area. [Thanks Stu]

As they are unlikely to return some fool has photographed every one of them en route to Dollands Moor and most were also recorded at Arpley by Stu as requested. [Thanks again kind sir].
