Raffles
All, I attempted to create a banner for the 47 group yesterday and ended up with something simple but effective, which is what I was after. What did I learn along the way? You can pick any image but the software will re-size it and apply left-hand justification. The empty space that this may leave to the right of your image can be filled with a colour of your choosing. I experimented with resizing the picture of 47105 and established that the image will always end up 150 pixels high so I re-sized it to that and made it part of a much wider image where i filled the blank space to the right with solid colour. Then, I dropped in a simple text box, shuffled the text around a bit and Hoopla! All done, and , all done in Microsoft Paint. I hope this helps somebody, it would certainly have saved me some time had I known.
Andy Y
Sorry, I should have at least mentioned about the 150px height! As the width of the banner space is variable with the user's display it's difficult to know what to use as an optimum width but I would suggest around 900 as the max. 'CHARD
Being the complete and utter **** that I am, I did the Waverley banner by trial and error before thinking of looking here! Wasn't sure, but expected it would left justify. And until I have another tweak, the remaining space is staying Scottish Region blue! Now, creating something for Transition Diesel Liveries is going to be an exercise in 'paint.' Appropriately enough

RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted May 24, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 24, 2011 Andy, do you still have Mr Nevard's pic that you used for the S&DJR Forum? I don't have a copy of it and it might do as a temporary banner until I can come up with something myself.
Andy Y
I don't think I've got the original to be honest Ian. I can't even remember where I found it.

Xerces Fobe2
Hi Andy, How about a best Group Banner competition to encourage Groups that haven't yet got a banner to come up with one? I like the Underground Groups banner the best at the moment. Xerces Fobe

Xerces Fobe2
[quote name='backofanenvelope' timestamp='1308114369' post='420287'] Hi all As the new kid on the block, I am just having a go at setting up the banner for the CAD group and was unsure of details so now I have something to work to Tom Hi Tom > Go to and open your Group > Look at menu on RHS under Group Navigation > Select Manage Group > New sub menu appears select change banner > Edit Banner then appears two option s banner and background both with set of instructions next to them > To edit your photo click RM Web apps on home page and you a drop down menu will appear > Select Image Editor or you can use your own app on your PC such as Photoshop Elements > You will have to edit your image to make it fit@150 - 200 pixels is the height and 2700 pixels wide for a full width banner, however if you reduce the width and your picture is repeated. If you look at the North & West London DC & GOB Lines you will see an example of this. Basically play with the size of your photo upload it and see what it looks like until you get the banner as you want it. I hope this helps.
