Guest Tom F Posted May 26, 2011 Share Posted May 26, 2011 Afternoon Gents This is my main area of interest, as it's the basis for my future layout, inparticular the stretch of line between Preston and Kirkham....the racing 4 track stretch. I'm interested if anyone has pictures to share from the late 50s/ early 60s...or there stories from this period they remember One little story I read was from the mid 50s when Accrington crew and their 75XXX were racing a Royal Scot, just before Lea Road troughs, the 75XXX shot past the Scot, and let there tender overflow so that the excess water hit the Scot mid section and drenched her crew....to the laughter of the Accrington crew! I'm looking into the Broad Street Fish train that left Fleetwood at 2.50pm, from further investigation, the train would often be hauled by a Crewe 7p loco, often used as a running in turn.
