Sludger
Hi everyone, i was looking through my negatives the other day and came across a batch taken on a trip to Lackenby in 1989. As there are a number of people who are interested in this sort of thing i thought i would post them. Please note that they are my copyright and i would appreciate if you respected that. Firstly some locos:- Regards, Trev.
12CSVT
Nice photos Trev, I noticed the second from last photo with the box in the backround that you got over to Redcar Ore terminal I guess the wagons where going to be loaded with coke sand or manganese ore for the Cleveland Works. Cheers.
Mark Saunders
Found some of what was left of my film from the day after it was chewed by my camera! Hopper 05 was preserved at Shildon. H9 appears to be the same as the South Works 'Aircraft Carriers' and the ex Skiningrove one at Boulby. 3303 is an ex Consett hopper chassis. Sludger
Nice photos Trev, I noticed the second from last photo with the box in the backround that you got over to Redcar Ore terminal I guess the wagons where going to be loaded with coke sand or manganese ore for the Cleveland Works. Cheers. Yes we had quite a thorough tour and did make it to Redcar. Sadly i am posting these without the aid of my notes which are stored away in Northumberland. The next batch are various assorted wagons:- Firstly a couple of what were refered to as Roberts Hoppers. There had been 28 of these in 1978. 6 were seen in 1989 at South Bank. Next a couple of 45t Manganese Hoppers. These were in the number range C100 to C157. Some had added height ( C100/C101/C114/C139 were seen). And some were as built. Next a Coke Hoppers. These were in the number range 2700 to 2763 and were leased by BSC from SRW. Some ex BR 21t hoppers were on site numbered H1 to H82. H15 was formerly B345054 H34 was formerly B345747 And H61 had been B422651 That is all for now folks - more to follow. Regards, Trev.

halfwit
Thanks Mark. A most interesting design, I've never seen one using steel cable rather than chain before.
hmrspaul
We seem to have two threads on Tees-side steelworks. I was with Mark when we visited Lackenby and many of the photos I took that day (all of the IUs) are at http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bsclackenby with a few detailed photos at http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/dormanlongtanks Paul Bartlett

Adam
Just to add to this old - but very interesting - topic. There's some excellent pictures of railway operations around the steelworks on Teeside - over various periods - in this Flickr collection which I haven't seen before. Mostly Lackenby, I think, but there are also pictures from Trostre, Coalite at Bolsover, Stewarts and Lloyd's at Corby and numerous others. http://www.flickr.co...74104/lightbox/ Adam
