ews60002
Evening all, Wanted to give a review about my local model shop. The place is Trident Trains at Dagfields Craft centre Hatherton, half way between stapeley garden centre and bridgemere garden centre just off london road. been going in for the last 5 years and see the place change owners. It's a wonderful shop having just had a re-furb and extension. Very good selection on Willis, Bachmann, Hornby, Dapol, and other manufacturers. All ways a good stock level and the owner a good chap to talk too. Recently ordered a Railion 186 from him and the loco was delivered within 3 days. Great Service !!! Has cabinets with 100+ loco's on display, also has a test track to see the loco's working before you buy and also offers a decoder fitting service and loco/wagon weathering service too. Very good selection of N-gauge stock and building material to boot. Sells some second hand stuff in cabinets outside the front door. When you're in the area give him a try and be pleased, just like me. Shop opens wednesday to sunday 10am to 5pm. Thanks Mathew
ews60002
Ok, Here are some pictures to show you all what Trident Trains is like inside. (Sorry about the lightning, I'm not good at indoor shots) All pictures taken with the owners permission and also I don't work there or have any connection with the shop apart from delivering parcels to the shop and being a regular custome for the last 5-6 years.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted July 27, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 27, 2011 richard, the owner is a member on here (richardsibley), he's really turned the shop round since he took it over, a pleasure to deal with (compared to the misery who used to own the place!), as well the extention makeing it a lot more roomy the range has increased too, as 60002 said there is a great selection of stuff on offer and some great 2nd hand (i got the NRM cromwell and bachy 1st run evening star off him a while back!!) that is of course if richard doesn't grab it first!! richard is well into DCC (and sound) and deals with howes for sound chips, also doing fittings, so if you are local to nantwich you can order stuff through him and he can fit it up if you didnt want to send locos via the royal mail to howes in all a great little shop, also over the way is a 2nd hand book and music shop that specialises in railway/transport books
RMweb Premium OnTheBranchline Posted June 27, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 27, 2013 My good friend Will (who reviews models on YouTube) always speaks highly of this store. When I visit England, I'll surely be going there!
Oldfield_Park
It is a marvellous little shop. Indeed the whole site is well worth a look. There's a wonderful bookshop a few doors down as well, which is a real treasure trove and has an owner who knows all there is to know about what he sells. RMweb Gold 08221 Posted January 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2016 What a fantastic model shop - and in a great location too! Shop full of stock at good prices, super range of accessories and really friendly staff. Was good to see the shop was busy, they deserve to do well. Reminded me of the model railway shops in days gone by. Managed to get all the bits and bobs I needed to complete my layout, so pleased!!
sub39h
Been there a couple of times - didn't have anything I needed but the owner was nice enough. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. There is also a book shop across the way that has some model railway related items. Managed to pick up a couple of books and a few DVDs for very reasonable prices

Chrisr40
Made my first purchase from Trident Trains after a tip off in the bargain hunters thread and was not disappointed. The items I purchased were very competitively priced and Richard even posted them to me on a day that the shop was shut. They arrived extremely well packaged and are now gracing my layout. A thumbs up from me Edited June 24, 2016 by Chrisr40
RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 24, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 24, 2016 And I called in on Friday and bought the 2 items you didn't buy! Agreed trident trains is a great shop, my shop of choice now, and it's open Sunday too which is a bonus when I realise I've forgotten something while working on my layout

RMweb Premium Scottish-Exile Posted December 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 14, 2016 As I work in Crewe and drive home to North Wales via Nantwich, then this shop is great for me but unfortunately with me working office hours, I don't often get the chance to visit. However, I wanted to pick up the new Bachmann Sealink coach that has just been released so left work early to call in on my way home this evening. An expensive - but worthwhile visit. There were a load of discontinued Gaugemaster modelling tools at upto half price so it would have been rude not too Having bought these and left the shop, I happened to spy the glass display case outside with some 2nd hand locos. There were 4 Bachmann Class 20's very reasonably priced and far cheaper than what they sell for on eBay. I say 'were', as they aren't there anymore, but now reside on my layout
RMweb Gold big jim Posted December 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2016 as an aside richard has comissioned a twin pack Dapol PO wagon set for "madeley colliery" i meant to grab a pic of them last week while i was in the shop but forgot
RMweb Premium Scottish-Exile Posted December 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 14, 2016 Yup, saw the wagons today and pretty smart they looked. Being modern image I just have no use for them but I do keep swithering when I see these 'local' private owner wagons, such as those made by Dapol for the West Wales Wagon Works. RMweb Gold big jim Posted December 21, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 21, 2016 Here are the Dapol twin pack "madeley colliery" wagons that Richard has commissioned, only available through trident trains
RMweb Premium OnTheBranchline Posted August 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2017 When I visited the UK, my friend who I was visiting took me to the shop. I must say I was impressed with the store; it was well stocked but it didn't feel like you couldn't move around. Richard was very knowledge and a pleasure to deal with. Iron Horse
Just thought I'd give this lovely little model shop a bump, if any of you are coming over to the DRS open day at Crewe this weekend this shop is only a 20 minute drive from the depot. Richard's shop is well stocked and the service is always friendly and helpful. I personally have no affiliation but am always a satisfied customer
patrick116
Yes Trident is a great shop and Richard, the owner, is always helpful. He does repairs (some minor ones while you wait if you're lucky!) and he also has a wide range of "OO" and "N" stock in store plus scenics, tools, paints, glue and many other small items. Well worth a visit but do check his opening hours and, in summer, his holiday closure dates. Overall a really great shop and very good service from a very knowledgeable owner/enthusiast. (I have no affiliation to Trident except as a customer).
ianmacc
Also there is a great bookshop opposite with transport books worth a look. And the miscellaneous stalls in the antique centre sometimes have some useful diecast or (very occasionally) trains available.
saxokid
Wil be popping in this week for some bits n bobs!! cant wait
RMweb Premium Chamby Posted May 18, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2019 I had never heard of Trident before this week, but after a post advising that they had some older Bachmann wagons in stock that I was struggling to find, I gave them a call. A very polite and professional response, prompt service (1pm next day delivery by Royal Mail, all the way to deepest Cornwall). I paid list price for the wagons but I hadn’t been able to find them anywhere else, though their postage cost was cheaper than Rails have charged me this week, for a much smaller package! Their stock is obviously not all listed on their website, so it is worth giving them a call if you’re looking for something that has sold out elsewhere... Recommended. 1
NIRCLASS80
If your in the area it is certainly worth a visit. Great stock, great customer Service, just a happy customer, no other connection.
1722
Quick visit for a few bits on my way from Shropshire to Crewe yesterday. As ever, great service (and it was very busy in there!) and very helpful. Well recommended. Satisfied customer etc 1
