The thing I like about these old photos and postcards is how much clearer the detail is from a photographic plate original than the sort of images you get with all this modern digital stuff (oh and when I worked in a brewery - albeit in the 1960s) some of the brew house people did indeed dress like that as there's was a very hot working environment.

I do recall the story of Great Uncle Arbuthnot, who got caught short during a visit to a brewery one hot afternoon in 1954, and was horrified when he realised that some chap with a camera was lurking round the back of the bike sheds, just as he thought he'd found a quiet spot to relieve himself. He was so surprised that he dropped his glasses!...
