I was digging through some old prints of Ivan Locksmith's (a relative of Captain Kernow by all accounts and made famous by him on this here forum) and found this shot taken around 1955.
Time machine? Lookalikey? Big chap, small car! What is he doing?

Looking at he grin, I would say he has been on a pint or two of the well known Badgers Nadgers ale!

I love these old postcards, of course these days you would just be accused of photoshopping.;)

He's probably just been cleaning out the spent hops from the boiling copper - hot work which required almost completely stripping off ;)

Talk about a dodgy character-where's the handcuffs!
That smile says that he is guilty of something.

If they'd had those rivets on the Titianic the plates would never have come apart when it hit the iceberg.....

The thing I like about these old photos and postcards is how much clearer the detail is from a photographic plate original than the sort of images you get with all this modern digital stuff (oh and when I worked in a brewery - albeit in the 1960s) some of the brew house people did indeed dress like that as there's was a very hot working environment. :blum:

I do recall the story of Great Uncle Arbuthnot, who got caught short during a visit to a brewery one hot afternoon in 1954, and was horrified when he realised that some chap with a camera was lurking round the back of the bike sheds, just as he thought he'd found a quiet spot to relieve himself. He was so surprised that he dropped his glasses!...
