BlackRat
Beat me to it, a good read about the layout. Chris the pics really are amazing!
westerner
If I'm not mistaken, BlackRat your layout Carrick Road(the early appearance in MR led in some ways to Wencombe) is also in the issue and it is good to see how it is has developed. From what you say this is to be the last development of Garrick Road. I shall look forward to the new layout. Will it be another Britsish layout as It appears from what you say that you are going to give it an "american" build with ceiling high scenery and theatrical lighting etc. I don't think I've seen that with a British layout. Could be a first.
BlackRat
Hi Alan, Yes def British! Somewhere down west again as well! The idea is to make as much use of the space available (as I have run out!) so the layout will run above the yards with a helix at each end (of the sort of dumbellish thingy it will be). This means scale length trains can be run. A small station, based (at the mo) on Fowey but with two lines at one end as opposed to the long siding that Fowey had. The 'pelmet' will hide the lighting behind and I want it to look like a station awning so flexi mdf or similar will be cut to shape. The back wall then gets painted etc and the backscene put on it, it all sounds sooooooo easy! First wrench is dismantling the layout! Unless of course someone is daft enough to want to buy it! Neil ps its a shame they missed the pic with the shirt! A bit of a tradition now!

westerner
Neil I'm glad to see you are staying down West. You've wetted my appetite. Looking even more forward to seeing it develop.( Not sure what sort ofEnglish tht is , but you know what I mean).

Decapod
Thanks Chris & Andy I'll have a look if they have it on the Scalefour stand at Warley. For anyone that would like a copy, the St Merryn book is available directly through the Scalefour Society website: http://www.scalefour.org/eshop/eshop.html The situation re Warley is that we can't sell the book directly off of the stand because it is available from trade stands at the show, particularly Bill Hudson Books Bill Hudson Books will be on stand C10, the Scalefour Society stand E16. All the Best Danny

Andy Y
I like the token attempt at camouflage! It just doesn't quite work though for some reason.
RMweb Premium Neal Ball Posted November 6, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 6, 2011 Just stumbled on this thread! - Sadly I have no cause to complain, but am really pleased! Subscription copy arrived fine. Must have been Tuesday as I took it with me to my parents on Wednesday. So was not aware the price has increased - but isn't everything increasing at the moment. Btw - did anyone notice the circulation figures? - close to 30,000 a month - not bad for a specialist magazine DVD was interesting - never been to barrow Hill, so that was good. - Hornby section could have been shorter, but not to worry. The content is very good and surely the reason why we buy magazines - to be stilumated, to encourage others into the hobby etc. Plus the photography this month is excellent - thanks to Chris Nevard. St Merryn looks great - plus an interesting article to show you how you can get the same look. BUT! - the one item that caused so much froth last month....... Chris Leigh and Backscene is included in the magazine! - Maybe we can get Andy to get Chris to do a regular Backscene article for the RMWeb emagazine! Overall a great issue, thanks very much to everyone involved.

BlackRat
That shirt! oooh! Where do you get them from, a dark corner in M&S! From me travels, each one is a trip down memory lane, though in one case, a trip down mammary lane, but that's for another site!

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 6, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 6, 2011 Where do you get them from, a dark corner in M&S! No corner of any shop would remain dark with shirts like that on the rack. They are probably banned in a built up area after 11pm at night! (with apologies to 'Not the Nine O'Clock News!')... RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted November 8, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2011 I usually fillet my magazines, only keeping the articles I think will be useful, but this looks to be a "keeper". The theme this month is right up my street, Chris Nevard's photo of Coombe Mill above is amazing, given the small size & highly inspitrational. The download for the clay hood is another bonus too! Well done to all concerned
dseagull
I saw in the reviews that Finescale Model Railways are releasing a budget Static Grass applicator. I tried to have a look at it on there web site (finescalemodelrailways.co.uk) but this address does not seem to work. Is this the correct address or is their a small mistake in the mag. Does anybody now the correct address. regards Alan Website now up and working. No connection, but I have put it on the Christmas list! (She won't buy me a Grasmaster, 'far too expensive')
Butler Henderson
No connection, but I have put it on the Christmas list! (She won't buy me a Grasmaster, 'far too expensive') Looks like the tea strainer / electric fly swatter compo that can be put together for generally less than a fiver. Chris Nevard
Looks like the tea strainer / electric fly swatter compo that can be put together for generally less than a fiver. Of course, but many people just want to buy something ready made and not be fiddling around with bits of wire and fly swatters when they could be model making. I've just been messing about with one today, it's actually very good for smaller areas and has certain advantages over a Grasmaster if you want to vary colours quickly. Besides, I can barely solder a wire to track, I'd probably kill myself if I started messing with the innards of a flykiller
