Free At Last
· I have one question to ask,of the N gauge A3 Gresley Pacific which appeared in Model Rail (Dec 2011) · The other morning when I obtained a copy of Model Rail, my eyes opened to the article of Dapol developing a range of A3 Pacific's. Rather than must have; something didn't seem right with the picture in the magazine. Correct me if I'm wrong but there appears to be something strange about the chimney and the "banjo" dome. The write up in the magazine states that Dapol will producing 60045 "Lemberg" but the picture portrays 60045 "Ladas" . Ladas was in fact 60047. I know when N gauge locomotives are photographed there can be some distortion , but somehow the picture attached to the review looks strange. I have looked through my collection of photos of A3 locomotives and not able to find a picture of either 60045 or 60047 with such a pronounced chimney and dome. · Sorry If I sound picky, but I've waited so many years to obtain and look forward to a decent model of both the A3 and A4 pacific locomotives and i know that the model press can only write reviews on models the manufacter provides. ·· SN Wright I'll have to go to Specsavers

There may well be many tweaks made to the models before production starts, so don't go making judgements based on these pictures - and don't confuse a news story with a review. This was NOT a review. Butler Henderson
Noticed that whilst the mag is flogging an annual sub of £41.50 with a "free" set of 5 Oxford cars there is a offer on the website of an annual sub with no "free" items at £

Come see us at Warley and you'll probably find other subs offers, too. CHRIS LEIGH

Tim MR has always been very good about replacing lost issues, but they are always sent separately, not in the same wrapper as the latest issue. Mine arrived here in Portugal yesterday. No DVD, but a suspicious split in the plastic outer wrapping. Oh well....
Pennine MC
To be fair to Butler H, the subs ad is a misuse of the word 'free'; to be fair to ModelRail, they're hardly the only organisation to abuse the language in this way. Sorry, but the Bauer representative did say she would send both issues at the same time. Unfortunately this was subsequently changed when another Bauer representative informed me by email that 'you will be credited for the missing issues' which is not what I wanted. Tim Sorry Tim if I wasn't clear - sent at the same time does not, for what is effectively for Bauer a back issue, mean being sent in the same plastic wrapper. I asked when the same thing happened to me and the back issue took an extra week to arrive.

Tim Sorry the subs rep wasn't very clear. Subscription copies are bagged straight off the printing press with the label supplied by the subs office. Any other copy would have to come separately. This is why the process of taking out a subscription may sometimes take about 6 weeks - just depends if your initial order hits the label run at the right time or just misses it. RMweb Gold pirouets Posted November 14, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 14, 2011 As an occasional reader I have to say this is one of the best Model Rails I have purchased. I actually picked it up only for the scalescenes clay hoods, but having leafed through it a couple of times I now it has drawn me in with the layout articles and the clay works article in there. Will no doubt flick through again tonight. I'm also impressed that they did not use BlackRats photo as that shirt is something else, though may be Model rail should run an article on what the 21st century modeller is wearing these days

Jack
Subscription copies are bagged straight off the printing press So why do some of us not receive our subscription copies until over a week after they hit the shelves of WH Smiths? I very much doubt this is down to Royal Mail as all seven copies thus far have been delayed.
daftbovine
I've just received this issue and agree that it's one of the best yet. What has made me really grumpy indeed is the fact that there was no DVD, as an overseas subsciber I feel we should still get the DVD, after all we pay quite a bit extra. I've always received the free gifts in the past, including a DVD last year. I'm especially grumpy because I was lucky enough to attend Model Rail Live and would have found the DVD very interesting. Don't even get me started on the fact that we can't enter competitions.
jukebox
My copy has only just arrived down under... sans DVD, which is a shame but not unexpected. However finding the binding staples 24mm in from the spine does make the whole front-half-of-the-magazine reading experience somewhat of a challenge.... 3737
My copy came without the DVD as well! Chris, why don't overseas subscribers get the MR DVD whereas we do get them from Hornby Magazine and BR Modelling? Leen.
lmsforever
The dvd is good and the mag is getting to be a very good read like the photo quality is great.
RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted January 21, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 21, 2012 So the cover price has been increased to pay for a dvd? Not much use for those who don't have dvd players or just don't want the dvd. Send it to me then, those of us in the colonies don't get it, nor do we have a choice. Mods, this isn't a complaint, just information offered as to a use for an unwanted DVD. Kevin Martin

A cracking edition as Cornwall is my home the 'St Merryn' layout is just brilliant, I had to pay $12 AUD for my copy with no DVD either, so if anyone doesn't want their copy, please send, I would be more than happy to have a copy of the DVD.
