Rob Pulham
Since the first one seems to have been well received I will share some more. Starting with Wakefield Westgate in 1926, a far cry from the new station that's just been built - Chris, my good lady did manage to sell them a print of this for the new station though.
Popular Post Rob Pulham
With this one the original photo that Chris worked from was a mid 60's photo that contained a 9F not an A4. I asked if she could back date it to sometime in 1948 and so she did.
Jeff Smith
Here's another of mine from the early 90's. One of the first acrylics I ever did, on canvas board. Yes wheels are hard to do....
Rob Pulham
The next one from Chris was derived from a very small image from the Mitchel Archive of the Glasgow university. They kindly gave their permission for Chris to use it as the basis for a painting.
Rob Pulham
Chris has also done some abstract paintings of loco related subjects. This one was a long time Resident at Locomotion (Shildon) and was last seen tucked away at the back of the hall with the platforms and restaurant in at the NRM York (sorry I only know the great hall by name)
Rob Pulham
Just today Chris finished another painting so this one is hot off the easel so to speak. Fellow Member Phil Dyson posted a series of photos on the web from a visit to the west Somerset Railway a while back and Chris was quite taken with one of them. Phill kindly consented to allow Chris to use it as the basis for a painting and this is the result.

Rob Pulham
Within days of finishing the picture of the Western that started this topic Chris also finished a second much bigger painting which has taken just over a year to complete. Another acrylic on canvas, this one is 28" x 36". The scene is Wakefield Kirkgate Station in 1945 and it's entitled "Return of a Desert Rat". This painting is a tribute to Chris's late father who was a desert rat in North Africa during the war. Right up until his death his heroine was Vera Lynn.
TomMarkert
So much of the industrial art here has so much atmosphere and feeling to it, especially the paintings. The work is wonderful and amazing. Railway art tends to be unappreciated in the hobby field. I am glad this thread exists. Here is my contribution...a pen and ink and a ink wash (unfortunately not railroad, but fire department related)... Tom

Castle
Hi All, It's not as good as the other works here but, sitting here in the bar car at Didcot I am reminded of a daub that I once undertook... I am guilty of at least one pub sign it would seem! Enjoy! All the best, Castle Edited August 5, 2015 by Castle

RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted August 6, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 6, 2015 I forgot to take a canvas to the art society so one of the members kindly donated me a small one, and I did this quickie acrylic painting of a viaduct on the Lyme Regis branch. I based it on a tiny photo in a train book but took some liberties with the house on the right, which was all but obscured with trees in the original. I might have a rethink about the line of that roof.

RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted August 8, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2015 Here is my contribution...a pen and ink and a ink wash (unfortunately not railroad, but fire department related)... Tom I keep coming back to this fire truck - it's absolutely fantastic. Might I ask if the original is black and white as well?
TomMarkert
The fire truck in real life, is red and white. Thank you for your kinds comments on my art. I actually owned the truck for a number of years. It is a 1952 Maxim pumper built on a International L-180 Chassis. I purchased it, restored it and eventually sold it back to the original fire department which purchased it new, sixty three years ago. They were glad to get it back after it passed through the hands of five different owners before I purchased it. Thanks again for your praise. The drawing is an ink wash done with India ink watered down and applied in layers to achieve the wanted contrast.. DOCJACOB
Here's one or two I just wish I was talented enough to do. I was introduced to this chap by a Drug Rep who came to my GP surgery. He usually painted cars and sci-fi moonscapes but did do the odd railway image. W1 at Waverley on the Flying Scotsman service is a copy of a commercial post card and currently hangs in my room at my surgery.
TomMarkert
So much talent and inturpretations represented here. I am impressed with all the art work displayed. From the wonderful free hand pencil sketches to the intricate oils and watercolor works, it great to see them all. I hope to get back into my art someday, and it will certainly include British railway subjects. Thank you everyone, for sharing your art. RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted March 19, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2016 Here's where I am with my Tintern painting, compared to a few weeks ago: I did some more work to the sky, added some more shadowing and texture to the fields, and have nearly finished painting the station area to the right. Still a bit more to do though.
