Andy Y
Thankfully we've just about managed to fit the results inside 2011! Congratulations to all entrants in the challenge, there really has been some fascinating and inspiring entries. If anyone wishes to read up on any of the individual entries they're all listed here - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/194-2011-challenge-summary-topics/ The challenge voting was broken down into three categories which considered different elements of the dioramas, visual impact, prototypical interest and originality. Visual Impact Congratulations to cactustrain in scoring extremely well in this category with a very high average score closely followed by bcnPete's 2mm entry which pushed the challenge's parameters in the vertical dimension. Prototypical interest In such a small space it's unsurprising that entries scored a lower value in being true to the prototype and was probably the most challenging aspect for entrants but once again cactustrain's Woodmore's scrapyard took the top slot followed by St Simon's Roads A-C Originality Stubby47 made this category very much his domain with three out of his four entries sitting inside the top five with his 'Setting up' diorama taking top spot above his suspect lavatory. Overall Moving on to the overall result it won't come as a great surprise from the previous categories to see cactustrain's scrapyard come out tops; a worthy winner when all aspects are considered ahead of Keith Harrison's innovative approach to making the challenge work in 7mm. First place Second place Third place My congratulations to cactustrain and all other participants, you really have demonstrated some impressive initiative and skills. Full details of the voting figures are available to any entrant in .xls format upon request via PM.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted December 30, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 30, 2011 An absolutely worthy winner !!! Congratulations to Cactustrain, and to Keith & Pete !! But, sincerely, many, many thanks to all those who voted for my dioramas - I am gobsmacked to find three of my entries in the "Originality" category, and one of those at the top, and also that it made 5th overall. cromptonnut
Well done to all. I shall have to pull my finger out and give you all a run for your money next year. Actually, if previous experience is anything to go by, that might be more of a 'snail trying to pull a tortoise trying to go the opposite way' ... RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted December 30, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 30, 2011 Congratulations to everyone. St. Simon
Hi, Another 'me too' post, well done to the winner and all the other entrants at producing such fine models. Quite plesantly surprised that I got runner up in the prototypical interest catergory, didn't think I would get near that! After this challenge, I don't think anyone can say that no one is actually making any models and that RTR is killing the hobby, because this challenge has proved the opposite, that we can produce very very good models still! Guest Natalie Graham
This thread reminded me, I still need to vote. Some great work, both in the final entries and some of those which, for whatever reason, didn't make it that far. Congratulations to the winners. CaseyJ
Congratulations to the winners in each category, the overall winner and to all those who took part. Some amazing modelling and some unusual twists for originality. Apart from the levels of skill and knowledge exhibited here I would like to to say that working to a deadline with a diorama or any model is a big part of the challenge and this is the first time that I have ever considered a model of mine anywhere near completed. Thanks to Andy for organising it and roll on next year. Happy 2012 to all.
amdaley
Its all a fix. The best layout always wins Congratulations to everyone, some superb entries.
mullie
Congratulations to all the winners, some fantastic modelling, and a well done to everyone who took part. I found the excercise very rewarding as it made me revise and improve a layout that had sat stacked down the side of my computer for over a year and I also tried new techniques that have reinvigorated my modelling and will help me develop my main 'Pott Row' layout that had become a bit stuck in a rut. Thanks for the opportunity.
Rammstein2609
Well done to the winners. The results were well deserved. I found taking part to be exciting and it pushed me to better my skills and actually get something finished. If this competition wasn't organised in the first place I know I would never have had the idea to build such a subject. I have started to re use parts of my diorama on a small 'bigger' layout in 2fs. CourthsVeil
Well voted! And well done all! And my congratulations to the winners Cactustrain, Keith and Pete as well as to the runners up. Not to forget: many thanks to Andy for your dedication to the organisation (and your patience when answering questionable questions). Now we are waiting for the next challenge. (Me too seems to work better when facing a deadline…) Cheers and Happy 2012 to all! Armin
RMweb Premium Neil Posted January 1, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 1, 2012 I thoroughly enjoyed taking part and I'm very pleased to see a worthy winner and high placed fellow contestants. Many of my favourites are represented.
SXHALL
Some deserved winners and best of all this got me to do some modelling! Superb idea restricting the size as it put aside all of the space, and time issues and for some (me) the cost issue as it was mainly stuff I had lying around. Now can't wait for the 2012 project challenge. So let's see it's an Olympic year so best use of an oval of track or fastest train over 100 metres or......could be as it is a Jubilee year steam related maybe!?!?!? No good trying to guess I suppose will just have to wait for the announcement! A final well done to all fellow contenders was glad to be a part of this challenge.
