jonas
Would anybody be able to tell me whether its worth a trip to Banbury for N gauge stock when I'm down Towcester way in a couple of weeks time? I went a few years ago and seem to remember they had a fair bit of railways items, but I was an 00'er then and didn't pay any attention to the smaller scale. If not, I guess the Northampton Model Centre is the nearest alternative? Cheers for any advice!

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted February 20, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 20, 2012 They had a reasonable amount when I visited them last Autumn - picked up some new Farish Mk3 at a good price which have subsequently been stripped and Electra graphice sides for Chiltern Mainline added to them. A fair amount of sundry bits and pieces so not just ready to run. the railways bit is upstairs. Its not your big model railways shop type place though. Nobby (John)
As someone who lives in Towcester, both Trinders and Model Shop Northampton are good, but the Northampton store is keen on pricing, only a couple of pounds more than Rails or Hattons where Trinders is more nearer the RRP. Eggesford box
Just a brief note that Trinders in Banbury closed a couple of weeks ago. The owners retired and could not find anyone to take it on as a going concern.
rob D2
That's a shame - it was like an oldie world you and model shop , not that I'd been there since I left daventry in 2011
RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted November 26, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 26, 2017 Just a brief note that Trinders in Banbury closed a couple of weeks ago. The owners retired and could not find anyone to take it on as a going concern. Unless anyone knows any different then Oxfordshire is a complete desert when it comes to Model Shops. I was in Kidlington the other week and couldn’t find the Howes shop. The Industrial Unit, where the shop was, now looks to have been completely taken over by a plant hire company. There's the Railway Conductor at the Old dairy farm at Upper Stowe between Towcester and Weedon, there is a railway shop in Wellingborough Mike

Still trading but from a different unit on the same estate I understand. I know Trinders HAD moved down the street, but have also heard they closed. Can anyone confirm? From my dashcam the unit with the yellow sign
