Catte Lane has an exhibition invite!

It will be running in its 'double box' format at Thirsk show on 26th July.

Must get on and do some more to the second box!

Thanks!

The layout ran very well and seemed to create a lot of interest with some folk.

I did take some pics but the laptop is playing up and won't load them. When it does work, I'll add them.

Hi Steve

First time I have looked at this thread. Your layouts get smaller but up to your usual standard of good modelling.

Just one question, where's the cow(s)? :dontknow:  I at least had a Essex Saddleback crossing the bridge on both Pig Lane and Hanging Hill.

Lessons learned from Carlton show:

Good idea to abandon 3 link couplings in favour of tension locks using handmade uncoupler. Might well consider a dedicated set of stock converted to Kadees if the layout starts to go out more.

Should have checked the fiddle exit from Box 2 BEFORE the show as could have fixed broken section.

Consider third boxfile as a link between the two existing ones. Fully sceniced and incorporated power feed.

Was surprisingly enjoyable to operate over a whole day.

Good for interacting with public, probably due to novelty value. Liked by children especially when allowed to operate it.

Easy transport and set up/break down!

Hello Steve,

I have just been catching up - this is a very nice layout.

I like your idea of having a boxfile connector beween the two "end" boxfile. My sense of proportion tells me to consider making a "two-boxfile"-connector or a "two-half-width-boxfile" connector - I hope you understand what I mean

Best Regards,

Christian

Well, having thought about it long enough, I have finally made time to make start on the third box this afternoon.

I measured up t'ole in one of the other boxes and used it as a template to make a hole in the middle of each end. These were cut out with a jigsaw after drilling holes in the (approximat) corners. As an aside, the jigsaw is such a useful tool I don't know how I managed without one before. They can even be used for quite tricky slicing, as here.

The track in this box is just a plain length to link the two boxes. It will be scenicked though, although exactly how I have yet to decide. I have laid the foam for the track base and it is currently drying.

No pics yet as (a) my laptop is playing awkward and not loading iPhoto and (b) it's just box wiv 'oles innit?

Progress as and when and, eventually pics.
