Bristol_Rich
I'm in the midst of starting a bit of an unusual project, but before I go head long and start cutting and casting I'm trying to source as much information as possible. I'm trying to hunt down any reference, or any internet links for drawings of any SJ 891mm (3') gauge wagons, typically those used up to the mid 1950's. I have been able to find many references to the standard gauge wagons and have detailed drawings for all these wagons, however I am struggling to find any for the 891mm gauge. Historically, much like during the formation of BR, wagons were descendants passed on from the private companies during the formation of SJ. However SJ also ordered new wagons to the same designs as the standard gauge but on a much reduced physical size. e.g. attached is an example Standard Gauge "G" Van (with end platform also available without!) 891mm Gauge "Gp" Van Part of me would like to assume that the bodies dimensions are the same but on a reduced scale underframe due to the holes for buffers on the headstocks however this apparently is not the case. Can any one help?!
doctor quinn
Hi Rich, I held off replying in the hope there'd be definitive answer, I've checked an article on SJ goods vans in a copy of MJ-magasinet that I have, unfortunately it makes no mention whatsoever of narrow guage ones! The article reproduces the same drawing as you do although to a smaller scale. A subscription may be of use to you as they have "subscribers' only" drawings on their website http://www.mj-magasinet.se/ The only other source of information I can suggest is the Scandiavian Railways Society http://www.scanrailsoc.org.uk/ I've been a member for some years and am constantly surprised by the breadth & depth of knowledge of my fellow members! Hope this helps, look forward to seeing the layout. Nick PS; I discovered the Swedish model railway wiki at http://svenskmjwiki.wikispaces.com/ after posting the above, may be worth exploring.
