highpeak
For those modeling earlier periods, a useful site is https://ceprofs.civil.tamu.edu/ghawkins/mutcd-history.htm Scroll down for links to older versions of the code.
Adrian Wintle
For contemporary practice regarding road markings: http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/pdfs/2009r1r2/part3.pdf I find the prohibition on using a single unbroken yellow line on a 2-way road to be interesting, as that is a very common practice in Canada. Basically it indicates the centre of the road with no defined pemission/prohibition on passing. e.g. https://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ll=44.516858,-76.57829&spn=0.000031,0.019205&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=44.516952,-76.578329&panoid=DxVpwlf-0KaQX4G-VJgKSQ&cbp=12,175.68,,0,-1.21 It hadn't occurred to me that it isn't (or isn't supposed to be) used in the USA. Gerald Henriksen
Rules in Canada are set by the individual provinces. In Ontario a single solid yellow line is permissable if the speed limit is below 70 km/h, otherwise it must be a solid double yellow line. The following website has the Ontario guidelines - http://www.directtraffic.ca/useful-documents/ - and the yellow line rule is page 36 of book 11. trisonic
Did you really want the whole layout thread to be “pinned” or just the roadmarkings PDF? If the road markings then start a new thread on "US Roadmarkings”, include the PDF and I’ll pin that. Cheers, Pete.

highpeak
It might be a good idea to have a "Miscellaneous References" topic that would contain links to useful information likely to be ov value to modelers, especially those who can't just step out the door and gather data at first hand. A bit like the reference books/photo sites threads.
trisonic
Started a “NA Infrastructure” thread - please add to it as you see fit... Best, Pete.
