kingfisher24
hello all. i was looking at the video on model railways live and, it created a brainwave (these are few and far between) and this was, is there a rmweb group for this part of the country, ie edinburgh and the lothians. i have met a couple of fellow rmwebbers on my travels, mainly at shows. it would be a nice idea for local members to meet up occasionally and exchange ideas etc. as i said, i do not know if there is already such a group but, it would be nice if there was. gary patterson

Bon Accord
Hi gary me and husband are just starting and ive just joined here would be nice for an edinburgh or scottish group was wondering if you knew anything about train toy fair at falkirk am sure it used to be once a month but cant find any info on it any more lol Donna, Welcome aboard. I think there is still a monthly swapmeet in Falkirk which caters for model railways as well as other toys etc, it having relocated from Bo'ness a decade or so ago. I'm pretty sure it was/is organised by Mclaren Models of Falkirk (01324 624102) so it might be worth giving them a call to ask about dates as even if they no longer organise it they'll have some details. The first Sunday in the month sticks in my mind, however the last time I attended one was about 16 years ago when it was still in Bo'ness Town Hall. Edit: I've just had a look on the Mclaren Models website and swapmeet details are on the front page, with the next one on 10th January. Dungrange
Gary, With three and a half years to get a response to your original post, I think it's fair to say that there may not be a huge number of east coast RMWeb members interested in an area group, especially if you discount those that are members of Edinburgh and Lothian MRC (who you meet on a regular basis). Surely there must be others?
virginhst539
I'm east Lothian. There does seem to be a lack of modern image modelling unless your willing to head out toward Falkirk model rail club
RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted July 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2016 I'm east Lothian. There does seem to be a lack of modern image modelling unless your willing to head out toward Falkirk model rail club Hi there, I would agree - there is not much 'modern image' stuff in the Edinburgh club(s?). Scottish Modellers are well into this scene though and are the Scottish arm of DEMU, but we don't have a clubroom at all. We do meet regularly though! We do provide demonstration stands at most of the Scottish exhibitions. Our next outing will be at the St Andrews Exhibition in August, then at the Ayr exhibition in September. So - if you want to talk modern image - try and come and see us! Thanks
Dungrange
I agree that there is not a lot of interest in the current scene within the Edinburgh and Lothians Model Railway Club: I know because I'm a member and although the post-privatisation period is my own area of interest, I have to admit to being in the minority within the club. However, that's unlikely to change unless more people with an interest in 'modern image' were to become members. Even although most of the layouts that we operate at exhibitions are either narrow gauge or BR steam era, that doesn't mean that those with other interests are not welcome to join us. ELMRC will be at the Cupar exhibition this weekend.
