Boris
It's coming up for our annual holiday to Malvern, now usually we stop off somewhere on the way down to make a day of it, and this year it's my turn to choose where we stop off. This is where I am hoping that our helpful Rmwebbers come in. What I'm looking for is a preserved railway or museum not hugely far off our route, (M1 to jcn 23A, A42, M42, M5 to Great Malvern), that will be open/running this coming Monday, not the Severn Valley as we have been there, but other than that anything is probably OK. Over to you guys and thanks in advance.
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted August 9, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 9, 2012 I know the Dean Forest Railway isn't working on the Monday, but it might be worth a look once you've settled in. Mind you, the Gloucestershire, Warwickshire Railway is always worth a visit.http://www.gwsr.com/planning-your-visit/2012-timetable.aspx . I don't know the timetable, but if you are married, I'm sure you'll be able to work it out to your advantage.
AMJ
Depending upon how far from the North up th M1 you are travelling why not go to Crich tramway museum. You could visit Butterley which has a DMU on Monday. If doing this you would then use the A38 to Brum rather than the A43. Crich is female friendly as they can ride on many trams visit cafe and the ride is pretty.http://www.tramway.co.uk/
