Spent Wednesday down at Didcot once again with our lil Green Goddess, GWR 813 before she takes part in the Rails on the Western Front event this weekend and the Flying Scotsman event next week... Before heading down I managed to get a few shots of LMS/BR Class 11 12099 at Kidderminster Station.

Btw yes I do know I have a slight obsession with 813...

Currently up in Manchester for the Gay Pride weekend. As always whilst up here, I aim to have a day out on the East Lancs Railway which is what I did yesterday. My loco for the day was the LMS Hughes Crab 13065 which I regretted not seeing when she visited the SVR for the November Gala... well now that has changed.

Saw Bluebell at Bewdley this evening prior to another SVR Autumn Gala... a stunning loco indeed and looking forward to seeing her in action over the next few days :)

Yes, I might try and accumulate some miles behind her.

Despite loads of Terriers being built, I heard somewhere only 9 Ps were built, and at least two of them survive in preservation.

8 of the SECR P Class were built. Four scrapped and four survived. One at the Kent & East Sussex and the other three at Bluebell...

First day of the Autumn Gala (well the Preview Day done). Quiet I can imagine because of the downpour but otherwise still a good day. Very impressed with NYMR's SR School 926 Repton and the NNR's GER Y14 584. Now just need to see the P in action...

Roll on tomorrow and the beginning of three good days. 813 once again takes first priority of course...

I got there at Lunchtime. I enjoyed myself once the services had quietened down - some of the early afternoon services were standing room only, which wasn't the best experience. The local and autotrain services were much better.

I also noticed that Prince seemed to have had a prang with the wall at one end of his temporary track at some point mid-afternoon. I hope the damage is minor. post-1187-0-40954500-1506109399_thumb.jpg

The SVR looks to be a fine show as usual. Sadly most YouTube gala videos are unwatchable because of downright lazy filming. I know the so-called professional film makers who churn out cheapo vids for the likes of Smiths don't pan round to follow the action, but it is a shame amateurs think it is the way to take movie.

Although I wasn't down to do a shift, I went along anyway to the gala.

So having arrived by train (and after visiting Footplate) I started at Kidderminster:

Y14 564 took me to Bewdley, where I met some pals then continued to Highley behind my favourite SVR loco, GWR 'Manor' no. 7812 'Erlestoke Manor'.

At Highley I had a very short ride behind 'Prince'. The brick wall next to the gate of the Engine House car park had a large crack in it - apparently this was caused when Prince failed to stop in time and rolled into the wall.

Just before Repton arrived, the P left the goods loop heading south, with the recently refurbished SR brake van.

Then Repton came in, but was about 40 minutes late leaving:
