steve1
As mentioned elsewhere, this debuts at Hull show on 10 & 11 November. Here's a couple of pics of the layout under construction. The idea is to show a rail served new(ish) industrial park in the Aachen area in Era V. steve

steve1
Here are the premises of Klinsmann, Beckenbauer & Lowe, installed and awaiting their signage: steve
Guest Max Stafford
I though Klinsmann's business had taken a dive of late! Nice simple plan and really plausible for mainland Europe. I'll watch with interest, especially if you have a G1200 skulking about; I like those. Dave.

steve1
I thought it was about time I proved that there had been some progress on the layout, so here's some new pics: (Please excuse the background!) steve
Allegheny1600
Looking good Steve! I do like that brick building, is it something by Auhagen perhaps? Pröst! John E.
steve1
Looking good Steve! I do like that brick building, is it something by Auhagen perhaps? Pröst! John E. Thanks, John. doctor quinn
Hi Steve, Looking good, I like the concrete staithes by the blue bulding, are they scratchbuilt? All the best Nick
steve1
Thanks Nick. Yes they are scratchbuilt, out of Wills Concrete sheets. The 'filling' is polystyrene carved and painted with rusty bits of metal added. steve
steve1
Work has continued at a pace in readiness for its next outing on Saturday 16th in Goole. Here are some pics to give an idea of progress: The r/h side of the layout, businesses and scrappie's Lengthways view l/h side detail view Scrappie's fence MaK viewed past the overhead crane Helicopter view of scrap yard. What struck me when I took the phots was how sterile the layout looked with any real detail work, figures or vehicles. All in good time, all in good time... steve
steve1
Latest addition is a set of Hornby "Chlorine Tanks". I've tried to make them look abandoned relatively recently. This is where they sit: A helicopter shot to show the base's interior From the other side I've also been working up a couple of vehicles I bought from Contikits at York show. They've been weathered lightly on the chassis, had mirrors attached, matt varnished and the blue van now has a driver. Anyone know if Schwechater Bier is any good? steve
Northpoint
I've only just found this one - very nice, Steve. Is this why you didn't have a layout for TVNAM this year?
Mallarddriver
Hello Steve, very lovely layout. Schwechater is a beer from Austria, which isn´t(as far as I heard)realy good. Kind regards Soeren
steve1
Nick - Essentially yes! Soeren - Thanks for that. I'll have to find a lorry with better beer! steve
doctor quinn
Easy-Lift-Off and a set of TL-Decals Hertz transfers for the truck perhaps? Nick
steve1
I got round to taking some pics of the layout at Mansfield show. steve
steve1
"Too clean" Hmmm... Some of the stock is, I will grant you still unweathered and I am gradually working my way through it. As for the layout itself, well that's a different matter. The pics I posted don't show the layout as a whole, which does, I think make a difference to the perception. By way of explanation, the concept behind it is of a relatively new industrial complex. In that case, it won't have become as exceptionally grubby as one that had been there for 50+ years. The brick building has just been refurbished and is going to be a completely new concern, possibly a trendy eating establishment or hi-tech company. As for the scrapyard, it isn't the normal variety (note lack of scrap vehicles), it is a metal recycling centre. The container at the front is full of washing machines and fridges. The gantry is long 'out of use' and is, essentially dumped at the end of the siding as the owners can't be bothered to move it and haven't got round to cutting it up yet. Incidentally, no offence taken, constructive observation is always welcome. steve
steve1
The layout is currently viewable at Modelrail Scotland. steve
