67A
Just tried to correct the position of the photos without success! So seeing as I'm still off here's a few extra's for you all... Getting some fresh air at last the crew of Ivatt 4MT Mogul 43047 have a top-up ballast working for the civil engineering dept. A few shots of the trains progress The last views show ex:LMS 3F 0-6-0 43924 hauling an empty coke wagon train north. That's it for now. edit: typo Edited July 24, 2017 by mike61680

67A
If your'e very good boys I may just oblige if your'e not I'll just post pics of my sore toes I have only been doing detailing work on the stock so nothing has changed on the layout itself, having to do sitting down jobs as I can't stand for long at present. 67A
Hi all, Firstly here are some views of my most recent project the conversion of 5 Dapol A002 unpainted 7 plank opens into the 'Coil S' steel coil carrying wagons which BR converted from redundant 7 plank opens. The information on these conversions was provided by Clive Mortimer and a search on Paul Bartlett's site gave enough info to make a reasonable job at little cost. The conversion work involved the removal of the wagon sides and sections of the ends as seen here. Plasticard 'Tee' section stanchions were added to each end and deliberately left rough following the prototype, the new side rails were constructed in brass using 1/16" angle for the main length, 1/32" angle for the two upright supports and 2mm x 1mm channel for the underside supports. The initial paint finish still requires bespoke transfers These show the 5 wagons with 'DUHA' coil loads in position - I need a few more!

67A
Hi Mike Those coil wagons look the business, well done. Many thanks for the heads up on these Clive I really like odd-ball wagons, they are now weathered and ready to go so will be featured very soon no doubt. 67A
Hi guys, Regarding the class 24 shown in the previous post I should have said it was undergoing some weathering but forgot - DoH. Anyway the results will follow on from here... Here's what you have been waiting for. Class 9F 92058 heads north with a heavy coal working, the coal loads are courtesy of the crew of Princess Coronation Class 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' following my Cumbrian Mountain Express trip a couple of weeks ago 92058 makes a fine sight as it passes the box Following behind is Black 5 44999 with a fitted freight for Carlisle The almost broadside view shows the lines of majestic design. A trespass shot from behind the bothy The clutter around the box is evident here The local coal merchant need a new supply going by the 7 plank in the siding Loads of detail in here, 3 forms of transport, Monkey Beck, snow fences and the cable to operate the 'Up distance' signal The driver looks very focused in this shot Meanwhile in the 'Up' direction comes a Derby Lightweight more to follow...soon...

67A
For this post we are generally following the progress of the Derby Lightweight seen in the last The 2 car DMU slows for its booked stop at Dent Having drawn up at the platform the DMU ticks-over whilst a few passengers make use of the service, of note is the destination blind details - courtesy of Railtec Transfers We can just glimpse a view from the field adjacent to the goods office The DMU heads off to Hellifield with the rear blind set for the return journey. You can almost hear the gear changes! The gloom of Widdale Tunnel beckons The next candidate for bespoke signage will be the C.T.A.C. (Creative Tourist Agents Conference - Scottish Tours Express) specials which apparently ran from Leicester to Gourock* each summer and usually hauled by A1 Pacifics or similar. *Gourock is the ferry port for Dunoon Sadly for the conference goers this is the return leg! However they are having a real treat being hauled by Peppercorn A2 60537 'Batchelors Button' The train is a rake of Gresley 61'6" teak bogies with a full brake leading, somewhere for all that luggage presumably. more later... edit: text positioning has gone all to pot it seems Edited August 7, 2017 by mike61680
67A
Rolling in from the south is Derby Type 2 D5087 recently outshopped in the new British Rail Corporate Blue and maintaining the 'D' prefix but numerals in the new font. The Type 2 is on a spoilt ballast working How could Derby Loco Works forget the handrails! The A2 is running a little low on coal it seems Powerful beastie as we Scots would say. Rare station frontage view, pity the A2 is blurred aaaarrrrgggghhhh D5087 is being halted at the Down Home The CTAC express has a clear run Its clear to me why I got exited when Polmadie depot got an allocation of A2's in 1963, a very strange situation however they were used regularly for a couple of years on the ex:G&SWR line to Carlisle via Kilmarnock. This pic' makes me hope 60532 'Blue Peter' will soon be returned to operational duties in the 12" - 1ft scale more later
67A
Another unusual angle showing the station's goods siding to good effect The handsome lines of the A2 are evident in this shot To close this session we see the old order -v- the new order That's it for now guys hope you like.

Hi Mike A very nice photo because of the unusual angle showing loads of detail not normally seen. I hope our mate Andy P takes a long good look at that photo.......Not everyone cheats by painting only the viewing side of the rails. :nono:
67A
Hi all, A few piccies to keep you happy - I hope! Class 108 3 car DMU has halted for its station stop on the slow stopper service from Leeds - Carlisle, a rather tedious journey even today. The recently applied destination boards are evident in both above shots During the last couple of weeks I got some private owner 4,5,7&8 plank open merchandise wagons, as PO is not PC in the 1950's-1960's they required a repaint I also had two 16T minerals in the most awful shade of pink - don't ask - so they got similar treatment Whilst they mainly look pristine I am currently detailing and weathering as is my usual treatment to new stock, the decals are Modelmaster Back to a bit of fun; Class 5 44999 exits Widdale tunnel with a fitted freight working north Photographer is getting his boots wet with this vantage point The class 5 approaches the box' As the class 5 rolls past the goods siding we can see both the local coal-men and the farmers are having a busy day 44999 passes through the station at a sedate pace cont/...
67A
Final view of 44999 Returning to the southern approach we find the doyen of the Clayton Type 1 Class D8500 working the 4S43 fitted freight bound for Glasgow College Goods The photographer has wisely moved to dry land for this vantage point Widdale viaduct will hardly be creaking under the load of this lightweight loco at 78ton Always had a soft spot for these unlucky machines, I spent many a dinner hour in the vast cab with a few fellow apprentices at St.Rollox Works back in the day! The tablet catcher recess is prominent in this view, I can't remember if any were ever fitted however This sneaky spot offers a good glimpse through the gap Sneaking round from the back of the bothy for the last view Hope you enjoyed the interlude. I'm currently deliberating with myself regarding some major modifications but there are several obstacles to overcome - so watch this space!!!

67A
Hi Andy, Lets rule out EM straight away I'm no masochist nor millionaire. My deliberations are over moving the fiddle yard and dispensing with the spirals, don't get me wrong they work very well and do as it says on the tin but I would really like to reduce the coupling gaps required in order to negotiate the tight radii as I just feel it detracts from an otherwise convincing view. Currently my thoughts are on moving the fiddle yard into the garage area as shown 'roughly' below. My main concern is that the garage is where my log-burner is and it does get quite hot in there.
Andrew P
Will you still have the length in the Fiddle / Storage Yard Mike? Will we get some pics this weekend Mike or is it already coming apart?
67A
Will you still have the length in the Fiddle / Storage Yard Mike? Will we get some pics this weekend Mike or is it already coming apart? Hi Andy, Sadly my indecision remains indecisive and there has been no attempt to dismantle - as yet! There will be a similar length to the storage area if I do go ahead. I remain concerned over the temperature variations from the log burner in respect of both possible track expansion/buckling and effects on the stock e.g. drying up any lubrication etc. There will be some pics later mate. 67A
Brush Type 4 D1662 'ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL' is halted at the signal whilst heading a heavy oil train north. Sitting in the siding the crew of 3F 0-6-0 43474 are having a brew awaiting a passage north, the Brush 4 is just visible above the wagons. There must be a snarl-up somewhere north of here The Brush gets the 'off' and digs in to get the oil train on the move Following its progress that 1B51 headcode was annoying me as was the performance from the Type 4 so I stripped it fully down (see next post) to discover the drive shaft fittings on the worm shaft of the bogies had both split, I have tried a little superglue as a first option and changed the headcode to a freight working. Broadside shot as the Type 4 passes the goods siding A few last photos of the Brush 4...
67A
Here is the chassis of D1662 showing one bogie removed leaving just the mounting yolk, does anyone know where to get new bogie mounting yolks from?
