Hi all,

In the midst of kitchen mayhem I managed to make some progress on a sort of related subject......

Spaghetti immediately comes to mind! I now have the task of making sense of this lot.

Hi all,

Well guys its been a while I must admit, the kitchen project is 95% complete which has allowed me a little time to carry out some of the wiring changes following the major fiddleyard alterations still ongoing. Some trackwork in the fiddleyard has been realigned and simplified (rationalised in todays terms) this has all caused chaos in the spaghetti like mangled mess not helped by my choosing to use the wrong fiddleyard approach fan! Both fans' were identical in construction BUT the wiring was opposed on the return unit - again not helping me one bit. :scratchhead:

The new approach can be seen beyond the track cleaning and testing train.........well, kill two birds eh!

Well that's the state of play to date, hopefully with the Xmas break coming I'll get the North end yard established. Thanks for your patience guys.

Uncanny that both are ex: Glasgow Polmadie (66A) allocated loco's which is great for me as it was one of my favourite haunts back in the day. The Black 5 was overhauled at St.Rollox or Cowlairs going by the large cabside numbers.

All in all it does not seem as though much has been done but trust me I have not stopped.

The Black 5 looks like the same one I've got - my first attempt at an EM conversion, and hence back in pieces as various bits keep falling off and the wheels continually wobble. I've more or less written it off as a learning experience :(

edit: DIdn't mean to say you're looks quite the same as mine - I didn't mean to imply bits are falling off it and the wheels wobble!

I like the look of EM but not all the trials and tribulations that accompany it. Just the thought of altering "if possible" every piece of rolling stock from say a 9F to a 4 wheel wagon just fills me with dread. EM may quite popular among many modellers but there is nothing as yet off the shelf that I know of so perhaps its just a fad eh!  :jester:

Good to see you back on here, Mike. I've taken my own little holiday for the past couple of months, so let's hope 2018 is productive for both of us.

Re. EM. If you're happy with the look, why change? I really wanted to change once I'd compared the 2 gauges. BUT, I now have nearly 70 redundant locos - until I do something about it - so I agree about the downside. And for some of us the pleasure lies in the layout build much more than messing with the rolling stock.

Besides, Dent looks great, just as it is!

Hi Andy,

As I've been missing in action so to speak what is your latest project mate.

Kings Moreton in good old fashioned ''OO'' and Penybont Sidings in ''O''.

But now, thankfully, on the mend  Peter

Thanks Peter, Yes I can't go into TOPS for a couple of weeks, but I'm hoping to do 4 or 5 minutes walking outside today if the Snow goes.

BTW Mike, that is some major change to the Control Panel mate.

Tell me about it mate!!! I made the job a lot harder by choosing the wrong end fiddleyard approach as the wiring for the 'up' was now the 'down' and the wiring for the 'down' became the 'up'......sounds like the great St.Trinians train robbery sketch  :jester: I thought it would be easy just moving a few wires and switches but you know what thought done  :stinker: The wiring has certainly delayed things significantly however that area is now done, just the new section for the 'north' yard to wire up soooooon....

Hi Mike,

Good to see you posting again ... not wishing to fan the flames in anyway, but I believe the Sutton Locomotive Works Class 24 can come with EM or P4 Gauge wheels pre-fitted, in which case it is RTR! But I agree with the thought of altering everything!

Thanks Mike, Luckily they got me into Surgery very quickly, and I had one of the finest Surgeons in the Country that was called out of bed as I was rushed to Stoke Hospital. https://www.keele.ac.uk/istm/staff/jamesnolan/
