67A
Good to see you today at the Hazel Grove Show mate, and again at the Poynton Garden Centre Model Shop. I can also recommend the Latte and Victoria Sponge in the Coffee Shop as well. Hi Andy, Yes it was a welcome surprise to see you venture this far north mate, as for the coffee shop we settled for the Sally Army bus outside the show and it was very nice also. I had three favourites at the show, Hazel Valley, Kinmundy and Westmoor Junction on which the range of stock was surprising and weathered to perfection. In fact it inspired me to attack one of my Parcels trains today.....
67A
Hi all, As you may have gathered I wandered off yesterday to the Hazel Grove show with a couple of my mates and we thoroughly enjoyed it, I was usually tied up with the Merseyside MRS most years as their show collided with this one and so missed a good local event but no more as the Merseyside club have cancelled all exhibitions from this year until further notice - I believe. (I am no longer a member) Anyway, I had a few jobs to do on the layout and once done I decided to weather some parcels stock, I just picked what was on the layout which as have all my stock received a general dusting to kill that 'plastic' look so this was more detailing - Part 1! As I spent several hours doing it I only managed to photo the one train as it progressed south so you can see for yourself. I have had a few difficulties with this Samsung S8 phone camera so I'm trying manual settings so please bear with the quality. The train is the 02.35 Carlisle-Derby Parcels passing Dent at 03.50 It has Ex:LNER A3 60041 'SALMON TROUT' in charge for the section to Leeds. The following shots see the train progress southward with attempts at making it look like the middle of the night ! That was all I had time for guys hope you enjoyed.
JZ
I have had a few difficulties with this Samsung S8 phone camera so I'm trying manual settings so please bear with the quality. I use my S8 almost exclusively for my railway shots using Auto. Only tend to get an issue with colour balance when shooting video.

67A
Hi all, Still trying to get back into the swing of uploading (what like I promised!). I have been pretty busy lately having built a number of wagon kits from the Parkside and Cambrian range followed by the arrival of a quite a few private owner wagons which naturally do not suit my timespan so out came the airbrush, transfers and weathering materials. Firstly we shall follow the progress of the daily milk train bound for the capital... The Express Dairies milk train ran from Appleby in Westmoreland to Cricklewood in London under express freight regulations and today we have BR Standard Clan Pacific 72009 CLAN STEWART in charge. The Pacific bursts out of Rise Hill tunnel with its train of 6 wheeled glass lined tanks. The Clan crosses one of the many spillways along the S&C. The Coal Road bridge frames the trains progress as it approaches Dent station. A view taken from the top of the Coal Road bridge. A going away view The Clan rumbles through the station platforms. I must admit to having a soft spot for the Clan Pacifics, Polmadie drivers apparently did not take to them hence the early withdrawal of the first five. The 'Up' home is 'off' as the Pacific gets to grips on this rare level section of the S&C. Sadly the view over the wall is a little blurred. Dent platforms are but a memory for the Clan Cont/….
67A
Profile shot as CLAN STEWART passes the box' and gets advised the Outer Home is out of action and to proceed past the 'On' arm. The 'Down' Home frames the Cricklewood bound Milk express The Ganger takes a breather to admire the Clan as it storms past. Trainspotting in the fields! I remember it well. The Milk train heads for Widdale tunnel Widdale viaduct rumbles as 72009 digs in. Almost into the gloom of Widdale tunnel we see a few angles of the loco on Widdale viaduct. 67A
If you remember I mentioned my work on a range of Private Owner (PO) and kit built wagons so here is the present position of this current batch. Most of these are now fitted with 3 link couplings to enhance shunting operations. A pair of 13T Fitted 7 plank opens which were originally PO stripped and repainted in bauxite, decorated and weathered. A Fitted & Unfitted pair similarly treated. Another 7 plank with two 'Lowfit's shown for the tractor loads. Parkside Dundas Ex:LNER Grain hopper kit finished in unfitted grey. Parkside Dundas 22T 'Tube Batten' open finished in fitted bauxite livery. An ex:PO 5 plank and ex:GW Loco coal hopper Parkside Dundas Ex:LNER bogie Brick open. Another 5 & 7 plank offering Cambrian 'Sturgeon A' kit with track panels on board. And without! Hope you enjoyed the interlude guys. 11

67A
Hi all, Had a trip to S&J Models yesterday and picked up a new member to the loco roster. Rebuilt Royal Scot 46117 'WELSH GUARDSMAN' which was actually allocated to 55A Holbeck as shown on the smokebox - bonus eh! Today I got a little further with the scenics on the extension and concentrated on the area around the spillway culvert. And just to give it some perspective Welsh Guardsman graces the bridge. 67A
Today we carry on the timetabled movements with firstly the 21.00 Euston-Glasgow Sleeper which was sent via the S&C back in the day. Class 40 D338 is in charge and just emerges from Widdale tunnel. The Type 4 thunders past the box The profile of the EE Type 4 was quite striking and always brings back happy memories of Glasgow Central as the 'whistling' reverberated under the low canopy. I don't know what the two women are doing on the platform at 04.05 The type 4 will soon enter Rise Hill tunnel. Cont/...

Hi Mike Welsh Guardsman looks immediately at home, from the first pic on. Like the scenics, but it did strike me that it would look a lot better if you were able to round off the baseboard joins. i.e. a small curved extension, roughly across where the bottom of pic 4 is. I think the spillway could run off without being emphasised by the angle of the baseboard join. Just an observation, I do like it as it is, but... 67A
At this early hour there is a lot of northbound traffic, next up is the 22.50 Birmingham-Glasgow Its only booked for Class 5 haulage probably to ensure it does not arrive at stupid o'clock at Glasgow! This morning's loco is Black 5 44694 There is a hint of change with the new corporate liveried coach behind the tender. Again early risers it seems around Dent. A panoramic vista of Dent station The driver will shut off as he enters Rise Hill tunnel as its almost on the level. Cont/...
67A
There were plenty of freight workings through the night... and here we see the smokebox of Ex:LMS 4F 0-6-0 43924 as it exits sedately from Widdale tunnel. The fitted van train is the 22.05 Burton (Wetmore) to Carlisle which has been halted at the outer home The signalman gives the driver the 'off' and draws him forward for instructions. Once opposite the box the driver is advised to reverse into the refuge siding. Once the train cleared the point the signalman set the route. The 4F sets back from the Down Main Steady does it. The driver cautiously buffers up to the two wagons already in the refuge siding and shunts them together with his train. Soon be time for a brew-up for the crew.
67A
Brew time! Now I don't have a large collection of sleeper coaches so when I need them for another working in the same direction as the previous I send them back to the appropriate fiddleyard through the hidden loops, I know some of you like to see these quirky workings so here the sleeper is sent north-south without going through the station. I always use a diesel for this purpose. The sleepers will now be rearranged so as not to look like the previous train and will emerge later on as I'm having my tea now like the driver of the 4F!
67A
...And here is the reason for the 4F's set-back and the sleeper stock move Stanier double chimney Jubilee 6P5F 45596 'BAHAMAS' is charging north with the 21.00 St.Pancras-Edinburgh sleeper This is one of the very few loco's in the fleet with a front coupling still in situ, reason being its so old its part of the bogie and I have occasionally rostered it 'inside' a double header The double chimney did little for performance nor aesthetics on the Jubilees. For a loco some 25 years old at a rough guess it still packs a punch Many years ago my sister booked me a 2nd class sleeper berth from Glasgow-Euston, I arrived showed the attendant my ticket and was directed to my berth, not knowing if anyone else would be sharing I bagged the top bunk and placed my toiletries etc. out when a lady knocked and entered saying 'you are in the wrong berth young man' (told you it was many years ago). The attendant was summoned and after some deliberation the lady was moved to 1st Class and I had the berth to myself, obviously the booking clerk misunderstood my sister when she booked for me. I didn't mind she wasn't my type anyway. Couple of aerial shots to conclude. That's it guys hope you enjoyed.

67A
Hi all, Sadly no update this weekend guys. I have been doing some maintenance and reorganising work and making a few more loads for the bogie bolster wagons and as I was completing them I had them lined up on the track when I realised that the gap between the wagons was immense due to those awful couplings which are moulded as part of the bogie frame and can not simply be unclipped called for surgical attention with the razor saw, once removed I drilled out the moulded hooks at each end and fitted some Brassmasters 3-link couplings which are a massive improvement to the look of the train. I will leave a few with the existing style and a couple of 'transition' wagons for mixed stock trains, photos will follow during the week.

67A
Hi guys, I have taken a selection of photos to upload but been unable to load multiple images and honestly don't have the patience to do them one by one so here's a selection A Class 25 emerges from Rise Hill tunnel The train consists of various steel loads carried by Bogie Bolster wagons which have now been further detailed with the addition of 3-link couplings and the loads are all restrained with chains, I think it massively improves the overall look. # Arty type shot! Its early morning and the lights are still on in the station masters house Bit of a teaser here with the nose of an unusual lorry just in shot Difficult to see the improvements to the train but trust me it looks fab! From Widdale tunnel a Fairburn 2-6-4T has emerged with a crane in tow! Both trains cross paths Close up of coupling and one of the chains in view The steel working is almost out of section as the Fairburn is held at the outer home for instructions Cont/...
67A
# The Fairburn's driver has been drawn forward for a chat with the bobby' The Fairburn draws forward into the station Following his instructions the driver now reverses into the down refuge Ahhh, now we see the reason, an out of gauge load is awaiting cranage (no purist remarks now - I'm having a play using rule 1) Time for a brew up before getting started The crane has now moved into position A few views as the crew of the crane now begin to assess the job. The police vehicles are here as they provided an escort for the Mammoth low-loader. That's it for now guys.
