Peco have announced at Warley that they are to do a RTR range of 009 steam locos, coaches and wagons. Details will be confirmed in due course but some painted pre-production szmples of locos are on show.

I suppose it was inevitable given their existing - albeit small - OO-9 range of kit items and rtr trackwork. Any new range though has to be risky, and a positive sign in current times.

I dunno, they've been doing kits and track since the 70s (at least). But certainly very welcome and I hope it's a success.

Will they manufacture the locos in their own factory like their Collett Goods, or are they doing these in partnership with another company (Dapol??), also will they be DCC-ready or fitted?

I commend Peco for their RTR 009 initative and wish the very best success for this new range.

Great news.

I think this is a real winner from PECO and they've spotted a niche area that needed attention in the market place.

The rolling stock looks good and I look forwards to seeing the proposed locomotive(s)

Cheers,

Mark

Well done - these are of no relevance to me personally right now, but the message this sends to the hobby is a very encouraging one. Looking forward to seeing the samples, and imagining the space-saving layouts that will follow in their wake.

EXCELLENT news, this is really good, and will hopefully help grow an area of the hobby that's long overdue some more support to help it be taken seriously.

I look forward to seeing the samples tomorrow. I'll certainly be putting my order(s) in when they're available.

When (if?) the locos become available they'll be an excellent source of chassis for bashing under all sorts of other 009 locos, interesting!

A few further details and bigger pics are available on the Peco website at http://www.peco-uk.c...asp?id=009wagon

"PECO are proud to anounce that a brand new range of ready to run Wagons and Coaches are being produced for 00-9.

Pre-production samples of the open wagon and box van were unveiled at the 2013 Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. It is expected that the Wagon and Van will be avaiable in the Model Shops early in the new year with the Coaches following soon after."

(No mention of any locos on their website though, only wagons & coaches)

Best wishes,

David

The loco 'samples' in the cabinet are the built vari kits and the Glyn Valley tram. Sorry ;)

According to Andrew Burnham they aren't intending doing the L&B locos themselves.

Eh?

I checked with Peco and the wagons should be out in the new year with the coaches by Easter.

They have no intentions on locos but are encouraging others by committing to this range.

Do ya reckon I may be right in extrapolating the idea the "encouragement" has already been done, and "Manufacturer X" is awaiting the rgiht time to unleash a RTR L&B locomotive?

Seems, to me, a slightly strange (though welcome!) choice for Peco...I always assumed they liked "The Great Little Trains of Wales" style narrow gauge....

I think you're right, but "Lyd" is currently working on the WHR, so a link with the L&B already exists in GLTW territory.

what i meant was a modern standard gauge minimus space station with a narrow gauge tourist railway along side

I do apologise if I've misled any forum members on this one. Peco chose to keep this one under wraps rather than give any form of briefing. A cabinet was set out proclaiming RTR 009 beside which were set out the three locos and behind that the wagons and coaches; to be fair the lower (partially obscured) line did say 'wagons and coaches'.

I should have just left any observations to exhibition-goers and just chose not to give a fair amount of air-space.
