More on SWT442s 'odd one' and another view of 08904 and 08735 at Eastleigh on 28.05.10 this time being coupled.

08904 had been trying to shove a lengthy rake of MLAs and JNAs up to East yard without success and gave up about 13.10. 08735 had taken a few Coalfish to the south sidings and when it returned about 13.30 it was coupled to 08904 and with both working eventually managed to get them moving.

While I am logged in here is 08578 shunting JNAs in Forders sidings, Stewartby on 08.09.07 and then at rest on a dull 26.10.07.

And sister 08644 in Aug 2005, getting ready to take the Plymouth sleeper coach off the rear of the Down beds...

I've gone for a bit of a Mid Norfolk Railway theme with these moves . .

I'd be interested to know what this move was for. Judging by the a14 in the background the shunter is just near Bury St Edmund's, so a long way from its usual Norwich stamping ground. It's unusual to see a shunter travel around by itself nowadays, they usually get put on a lorry.

Hi Tom,

It's on its way to Norwich back in March 1999. Ran from Dereham via Wymondham (Road delivered to Dereham) to Norwich under its own power to run it in.

Was swapped for 08870 the same day, which ran from Crown Point to Dereham.

Cheers

Tim

A dull day in April 1983, Leicester. 08695 (a Leicester regular I seem to recall) with air-braked BDAs and vacuum-braked Mk1 coaches heads south on the goods lines. Possibly heading to Berry's scrapyard with the coaches on their final journey? Hopefully a brake van towards the back.

Was that newly painted black in 1980? Seems a bit of a scoop, as back then, I'd have thought most were blue or possibly grotty green, and the "special" colour schemes hadn't yet taken off.

To be honest that had never occured to me, I seem to recall that it had been freshly painted, and being disappointed that I could only get that shot.

I only posted it because it shows front end detail rather than the more usual side view or front three quarters,

cheers
