Modelling a traditional parcels train

Wasn't that about Truman's - didn't they advertise 'you can taste the hops in Ben Truman'? Often the 's' on hops was scratched out to infer they only used one hop.

The one about Grotneys was that it 'was like making love in a punt as it was . . . . '

Just found this John Senior shot of two Tartan Arrow vehicles lurking in the hard drive, a GUV and a CCT, no info with it but I think the location might be Willesden or Wembley and 1969 seems to ring a bell...

Is that not a BG rather than a GUV?

Hi John

It is an ex LMS BG, they had their gangways removed so should be called just a B . There were four painted in this livery and like the CCTs were dual braked to run with the Tartan Arrow container flats. They were the accommodation for the guard in the train.

The 1950s and early 60s were when new production of these wagons was in full swing, and newly delivered ones were by no mean uncommon.  My own rake of empties features a 7-plank XPO in newly painted condition, and the loaded rake has an as new steel 16tonner.

Yes. But that photo has been taken in the 70s at the earliest. (Edit: 6 May 1975)
