It is a glorious late spring day, perhaps early June of 1950 as an ex-LNER T1 waits in the sunshine, by the Hessle Station starters; 'waiting to be turned inside' to continue its journey on the up slow.

Cracking photo Mike. The sun on that side casting the shadows is very effect. Rather impressed with the semaphore as well !

That sun is the real thing, no-one could produce light like that artificially. This was just one of those 'happy accidents' in how the photo turned out.

Here's another one in the sun, perhaps on that same June day in 1950.

A Peppercorn A1, then almost brand new, coasts under shipyard bridge and into the early morning sun of a glorious day, as it brings its train into Hull. This photo just went wrong, losing its depth of field though, somehow, it seems to work.
