That fence alongside CR212 signal was thanks to my campaining to the then MD of FNW, while i worked for them i got assaulted after asking someone not to cross the line there (as a train approached) and he followed me home Nd beat me up on my doorstep, after a letter to the MD he contacted network rail personally who came and fenced it off to stop trespass.

This  brings back a memory!  About 10 years  ago i often used to pick up one of my sons on a Friday when he came home from The University of Manchester for the weekend

,

at Shotton low level,  to reach the low level platfroms  it was nescessary to walk along an approx 1/4 mile path from Shotton High Level, this path was along the high level track,

I  noticed  that there was a section of track just before the line crossed the low level (Chester - Holyhead) where the sleepers  were  in what appeared to me to be in a very

poor rotting  state!

After a few weeks of noting this I plucked up  the courage to phone Network Rail ( I think they were the authority in those days?) within 10 days  the whole  section of the

affected track had been replaced, and they even installed one of those expansion joint thingys!

I hate to think what may have happened if  the rotten sleepers had given way  as one of the Shotton Steel trains had passed over them!
