A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Excellent. You're welcome to post some photos of it on here for us mere mortals to salivate over it.It looks the business to me.I'm sure,no I know , the US army would have used the Kingsbridge branch in the run up to D Day.

Ok, here goes, my most recent British armour (to keep it a little bit on topic):

Rob,perhaps a three year step back in history is needed and a visit from General Eisenhower will give you the perfect excuse to build Comet's VIP Saloon and a Super Saloon. The Super Saloon could also be used in your planned "Ocean Liner" train.

On the other hand a cheaper alternative might be to obtain a "Montgomery" figure and have him standing on the platform at Brent after buying a day return from Kingsbridge because he was bored walking round Kingsbridge every day.

Only joking but, as I'm sure you will already be aware, there are a few pages - pp98-101 in "The Kingsbridge Branch" (Ken Williams and Dermot Reynolds OPC)

giving details of some very interesting workings in April and May 1944, with LMS coaches featuring and Monty's LNER 7 coach rake, not to mention some interesting mixed trains.

Rob it's only words unless SWMBO belts you with the frying pan, I got it in the neck today for spending 30 quid in the Railway Shop she sulked all the way home it was great as she didn't say another word till I made her a cup of coffee when we got in she muttered something,  I'm now laying low in the office/modelling room hoping she will cook some dining or I will be pressing the button on the ding box later. :drag:

S*d the ding box, I'd be off out for a proper dinner (Star or no Star)

or you could ask T&A nicely to put some coach bogie's under some army tanks them you could call them Little Bertha and Little Bert as you do like naming things.

Might I introduce Dora:

Are you single by any chance Mike  :O

No, and Mrs Stationmaster is an expert in the culinary art but sometimes she simply doesn't feel like coking so we go out to eat, and if she doesn't feel like eating either I might go out on my own or with the offspring (in the verrrrrrry faint hope that the latter will pay.

We might have platform clearance problems at Brent with that beastie.

There's a photo of that in the Pack Horse Inn going through Brent aimed at Trago Mills Stover! :D

The Finching sisters would be well impressed with it's girth. What you got against TM Mark as it's a good day out for the family there. ;)

1350 tonnes

It would definitely strike my overbridge.

Heres a link to one built from that kit of T & A 's.  http://www.amazon.com/Hobby-Boss-Railway-Vehicle-Building/dp/B0040QD2SM

I think the Finching sisters would say 'Size isn't everything-it's what you can do with it!' :D

I wonder what the recoil was like on Dora?

Nothing against Trago Robin-although that building is a bit of an eyesore.  Saying that I've had some bargains from there in my time. ;)

Cheers,

Mark

For the benefit of 'Trains and Armour' here's a photo link to Trago Stover:
