A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

They are named after characters from certain kids tv programs from the 70's ;)

and here come five of them...

I once dropped an easy catch at school cricket one day as a Shack came grinding its way out of Brize Norton.  I went all slack jawed in admiration of something so noisy and charismatic instead of the usual diet of VC-10s, C130s and HS780s...

Aircraft departing from Brize flew directly over my school sports field.  Some of them were still in Middle East Command dingy camo too!

Nothing beats the sound of a Growler ;)

So devotees and disciples of ANTB you now have the chance to name the Growler (Shackleton) of 8 Squadron that I do. WR963 Ermintrude & WR 960 Dougal are both represented by the kit - so those two have been excluded.

The choices are:

  1. WL741 Basil
  2. WL745 Sage
  3. WL747 Florence
  4. WL754 Paul
  5. WL756 Mr Rusty/Snoopy
  6. WL757 Brian
  7. WL790 Mr McHenry/Zebedee (after 1981)
  8. WL793 Dylan
  9. WL795 Zebedee (till 1981)
  10. WR965 Rosalie (crashed 30/4/90)

A growler means something different to Australians- something to be grabbed by Donald Trump! Edited by Limpley Stoker

I've had a request to give Sierd's Heljan 47xx a run and we see her on a down coal train heading for Plymouth.

I particularly like photograph 5 Rob, slightly reminiscent of Starcross.

Beach looks inviting, how do you get down to it?

Looks much better now with the stones reduced in number and the sand up to the wall.

A last set of stairs down from the white hut?

Don't forget the handrail either….you know how slippery these can get!

At the moment it's only accessible by boat, so any ideas. ;)

Yes.
