A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

They will have to be black as the GWR green version would be incorrect for 1947. :read:  Has anyone with a copy of MR got all the release details please.

Right my copy arrived a couple of hours ago so -

1662 early emblem, very clean

1627 early emblem, dirty

1646 early emblem, reasonably clean (as transferred to Jockland)

1655 late emblem, ex-works

1638 as preserved condition and in fake GWR green :O

Today I have mainly been in Barnyrubblestapipple  ( that place at the end of the Tarka Line ) and picked up a pristine copy of the Great Western Railway Journal No.13 for a couple of quid, what a bit of good luck !

It's one I've been looking for which features an article on the  "2301's on Passenger Duties ". Some bedtime reading I think  :declare:

St Blazey any good ?

Too far for the Truro - Newquay branch, although they probably did Par - Newquay and return. Not sure any loco would travel on the 'other ' branch'.

I'm sure I've seen a 16xx photo in Peter Gray's  Steam in Cornwall album.

Edit 1664 on page 71 leaving Luxulyan with the Goonbarrow branch goods in 1961.

Do you have withdrawl, last allocation and cutting dates etc?

Withdrawn May 27th 2018, near 70B (Feltham) and disassembled (not cut) May 28th to June 3rd 2018  :jester:  :jester:

No need as it's being reborn again.

I'm not the Messiah ;) :P

Isn’t it annoying when the spring stops working on Peco points. Still, it is prototypical- this WC had to wait ages to back onto the waiting coaches while the point blades waggled about.at Swanage recently.

A pointless post, obviously.

Don't have a copy of the magazine, I'm afraid, but hopefully someone will be able to advise us.

Never did understand why Devon needs its own flag. It's part of England, for goodness sake (unlike the Peoples Democratic Independent Republic of Kernow).

I am having a moment of indecision, I can't decide whether to like or agree with Mon Kapitan's post.

First I need to correct the list as I looked at the pictures and find the words are different (which seems daft - why have pictures of enegines they aren't going to do??)

  so the list is now

1648 early emblem (Danygraig, possibly not shopped before transfer to Carmarthen and then Whiland in 1960)

1627 early emblem, weathered  (Lydney until 1962 when it went to Oxford, On loan to St Blazey in August 1959)

1624 late emblem   (so as when shedded at Newton Abbot I would think)

1636 late emblem weathered (if it was shopped the livery would match its time at Oswestry and Slough)

1638 - as noted above, representing its preserved state

Renumbering is of course obviously possible as detail variations on these were near non-existent (injector overflow pipes might have been re-routed - not checked).

No orders being taken yet 'as design work is not yet complete' but you can 'register your interest' with Model Rail.  the manufacturer will be Rapido for those who hadn't worked it out then

So how long did the passengers have to wait on the platform for the WC?  :O
