irishmail
Had a great weekend in Bangor, Co. Down exhibiting Campbell Riverside at the First Bangor Model Railway Club exhibition. Layout worked well over the two days and the high level auto- shuttle (Gaugemaster) helped ensure something was always moving on the layout.
irishmail
This link should take you to a video clip of the high- level shuttle in operation at the Bangor exhibition. irishmail
Campbell Riverside has been exhibited on the Irish exhibition circuit since 2014 and is continuing to prove popular for all who see it. Since my first exhibition in 2014, the layout has continued to be improved, with the introduction of the 'auto-shuttle' on the high level track and gradually improving the back scene. I have now made a start on weathering the rolling stock, this will be followed by weathering of some of the locos as well. One improvement that I would like to make before the next exhibition is to make a lighting pelmet possibly using LED strips. irishmail
Hi all, Here are my first two examples of weathered 40' box cars for Campbell Riverside. This is my first attempt at weathering rolling stock, I will do a few more wagons before I attempt some loco's.

irishmail
Campbell Riverside all set up for the Wexford Easter Show. The new lighting pelmet has helped to frame the layout a lot better. I am pleased to say that the layout and all the locos performed well over the two days. The next outing for Campbell Riverside is 26th & 27th May in Bangor at the First Bangor Model Railway Exhibition.
irishmail
Looking at improving the operation of the fiddle yard on Campbell Riverside. Currently I use cassettes which work fine, the only down side that I have found is if I want to change stock over quickly it can sometimes be a bit awkward changing the cassettes over. So at the moment I am looking at using a sector plate system which will give me 3 roads the length being the same as the cassettes so no loss of storage space. I did consider using points and a fan of sidings, but that would mean extending the length of the fiddle yard (Not impossible, but I want to keep the layout with-in the current footprint). AJon30
Hello John Thanks for your nice comment on my layout. I passed your regards on to Mick and the rest of the guy's down the club on Tuesday night. If you don't mind me hijacking the thread slightly, as you mentioned in the beginning your plan was based on the one drawn up by Alistair George (sadly no longer with us). His layout did feature in BRM and i have a copy of the original track diagram that appeared in that article, which I hope you don't mind I will post below. Swansea Riverside now lives in the West Country but made an welcome appearance at our O gauge show we held in Hitchin last weekend. irishmail
Work as continued on the fiddle yard improvements. The sector plate has been cut from 5mm ply and the track glued on, the ends of the rails soldered to copper clad sleepers. The sector board is held place with an M4 bolt. The next job is to wire up some electrical feeds to the sector rails, and to sort out a securing/locking bolt to keep the tracks aligned.
irishmail
Campbell Riverside's fiddle yard improvements are now almost complete. I used brass tube and some copper wire to make the locking mechanism to keep the tracks aligned. Today I wired up the track feeds and then tested the sector plate with a Bachmann 08. Am pleased to report that the testing went well with the loco running to and from the sector plate with no problems.

Willy
I was going to come up to Belfast but it is nearly a 2 hour drive, the weather wasn’t very good and there are no catering facilities for visitors at that venue so I gave it a miss. I am hoping to go up to Enniskillen in September. Will you be exhibiting there?

irishmail
Hi all, It has been another great year showing my Campbell Riverside layout. This year it was shown at Wexford, Bangor (Co. Down) & Belfast. I was also going to be at the south Dublin show in October but due to unforeseen circumstances had to pull out. As for 2018 there are currently no bookings for Campbell Riverside, this will hopefully give me time to make a few improvements to the layout. Also I have my 0 gauge layout which I have been asked to take to Wexford & Belfast in 2018, http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123311-swanbourne-vale-light-railway/page-2&do=findComment&comment=2892358., so I need to do some more work with that before next Easter!
