fitting sound to these can be fun as bits tend to fall off

Latest round of work has seen sound fitted to a Blue Pullman - easy to do but with no EM layout to try it out I hope it all works!

And two Bachmann EE type 4s. These are the latest ones and have been regauged (as was teh Blue Pullman) to EM by Mike Edge.

Legomanbiffo sound fitted in both and then gently weathered.

D333

and D338

post-7650-0-44476600-1478797877_thumb.jpg

and a 3/4 front view of D338 - the gap above the bogie is very noticeable but isn't so when you have it on EM track.

Bit of track weathering undertaken this week on the Liverpool Overhead Railway on Herculaneum Dock.  Mike has posted a load of pictures but this one I like most

The "dirt" between the metal track supports uses some desert "dust" from the USA applied dry then ink and water added.

I do take on some interesting work...

Take one Ks Johnson 2F with a Ks HP2M motor fitted.

DCC it...

post-7650-0-62074300-1484757701_thumb.jpg

it uses a Lenz chip with a bit of fiddling to slow it down a lot...

Chip in tender, a bit of coal added and ..back to its owner.

Preparing for a presentation on weathering techniques I have realised that my first weathering "commission" was in 1977.. that makes 40 years of weathering this year. How time flies when you are enjoying what you do!

I do end up looking at doing more than one of the same loco at the same time. (3 Bachmann 08s being a prime example) but I have never had 3 different English Electric Types 4s (aka Class 40 or Whistler) to do ...These were regauged to EM by Mike Edge and I am now renumbering them, fitting name plates etc, sound to two of them then some weathering...

first up D211... original front no ladder, awaiting the small yellow warning panel (paint has gone rock in the tin...)

post-7650-0-86045100-1488470958_thumb.jpg

D343 - split headcode

post-7650-0-41581100-1488471010_thumb.jpg

D396 - single, central headcode

post-7650-0-56324300-1488471033_thumb.jpg

sound is fitted in all 3 (client supplied units for 2 and Bachmann pre fitted for the other)

Should be complete early next week .

Been doing lots of different things on the weathering and sound fitting front recently. Some of this is follow ups to previous work and this bit of work is a follow up to some Heljan O Gauge Blue diesels I weathered a while ago. (Hymek, Western and Class 47)

I was asked to number and weather 4 Heljan Mark 1 O Gauge coaches in Blue Grey for client:

Starting with a BSK

blogentry-7650-0-30738400-1494362620_thu

and the end - note the dirt at the lower end of the door

blogentry-7650-0-96937700-1494362625_thu

A Corridor Second
blogentry-7650-0-00009100-1494362635_thu
complete with number

blogentry-7650-0-19342100-1494362658_thu

A corridor First

blogentry-7650-0-03205000-1494362664_thu

and finally a TSO

blogentry-7650-0-09059100-1494362679_thu

and its number

blogentry-7650-0-45940700-1494362685_thu

No real problems but taking a coach apart to reglue a window is fun. The coach end water filler pipework has to be released to get the roof off and, of course, doing this removes the paint applied to cover up the shiny metal they are delivered in.

I have been busy adding sound to 3 AM gauged Hornby Black 5s. All have the Locoman sounds on a Zimo chip, all have different speakers(all fitted in the tenders). Interesting to hear the differences in sound from each loco. If I can get a recording of them I will try and add it here.

Next up a Hornby B1 and a DJH Caprotti std 5 for the same customer
