Bachmann have announced that they will be producing an LMS stanier mogul, there will be 3 versions initially with a choice of flush or riveted fowler tenders. They are: 31-690 LMS Stanier Mogul 2955 LMS Lined Black Era 3 31-691 LMS Stanier Mogul 42969 BR Lined Black Early Emblem Era 4 31-692 LMS Stanier Mogul 42968 BR Lined Black Late Crest (Preserved) Era 5 (and 9) All feature 21 pin DCC sockets, tender pick ups and a £118.95 RRP. All information from the Bachmann website. I'm really looking forward to it if the recent models are anything to go by, probably going to be a while yet though as there aren't any CAD drawings or engineering samples on the site and little info about it. Pre-ordered the LMS version myself and the preserved 42968 version for a friend a while ago. Although the pig is coming back together nicley and the pannier is making steady progress as is TV. Hopefully it will start soon as its an outstanding engine. Not really sure of the reasoning behind starting the very long overhaul of 75069 when we need more engines quickly, 45110 would have been a better bet, but then I'm biased ! I wonder whether the SMF will commission a ltd edition of 42968 when it was on the main line as LMS 2968 with 45110s tender, could do a double pack with 7325 or are the Bachmann mogul and 7325 different variants of GWR mogul? LMS2968 Posted June 20, 2013 Share Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Some dismantling work had begun to remove high value components only, but then ceased until storage space for removed parts became available. This has now happenned, so further dismantling will resume. The current plan is for 2968 to enter the works for the overhaul to start some time in the Autumn, with a return to traffic about two years later as she is thought to be in fair condition. There has been no mention so far of a Bachmann model of her as preserved 2968 with Stanier tender. I understand that Bachmann have visited Bridgnorth and done their photographing and measuring up. Sam (edited because I didn't proof read !) Sam, 75069 is quoted as being a 2 year job. The new boiler sections are on order along with the copper for the new halfsides. Despite her length of time out of service and in the open, she is considered to be in good condition. With the recent announcement of 4930 heading north in october. Up till recently engines tended to go through in the order they came out of traffic, however things are changing. 5110 and Gordon being company engnies without a group like the Hagley Hall society will always end up being lower down the pecking order and I have not seen either on the list. Many will not lament Gordon not being done soon. Both the 29 group and Hagley have raised good amounts of money and that now counts for alot. The other thing of course is the number of both paid and volunteer members of staff. The company has a target of acheiving overhalls much quicker than it dropped down to and with changes that have happened things are speeding up and improving. Even on some midweek days the number of volunteers is increasing. One recent Wednesday saw 25 volunteers in addition to the paid staff on shed. It's the one announced model I'm really looking forward to. I've a Millholme whitemetal model but it won't be a patch on the Bachmann model, of that I'm sure. I think, mainly due to the good work of our friends at Bachmann, the LMS has been well served over the last few years, so this is the reason why the LMS followers are not quite as vocal as say the LNER who have, and continue to fight their corner quite tenaciously. The number of LMS designed locos not available RTR is quite small. The Stanier/Fowler 2-6-2Ts, The Fowler 0-8-0 and 0-6-0 Dock Tank together with the Turbomotive being a few of the more obvious gaps to fill. Even pre-grouping locos are quite well represented although the Midland Johnson 0-4-4T is, in my view, a glaring gap. A move north of the boarder to the offerings of the Caledonian would be welcome, I have put the case for a McIntosh Calss 812 0-6-0 in another thread. Hornby's return to the LMS after a long absence (2007), apart from the CCT, is welcome as the Suburbans will fill a large gap, the push pull versions would be icing on the cake. Perhaps they would also consider adding to their range of Stanier period two stock. The Midland Goods Brake Van from Bachmann has been a useful addition but a reissue of a standard LMS Brakevan would not go amiss. So my message to my fellow LMS followers is yes we have done very well recently but there is still quite a bit to campaign for, so get posting. In the meantime, to get back on topic, we know we have the Bachmann Stanier Mogul to look forward to! brossard Posted November 30, 2014 Share Posted November 30, 2014 I would agree that Bachmann has been our friend over the last few years. LMS also built a number of 0-4-4T locos if I remember right. Lets not forget the 0-6-4T Flatiron. I had about given up on seeing any LMS non corridor coaches (the Airfix/Dapol models can't be converted to Pull Push and were fairly low in number) so the announcement at Warley got my attention.
