RMweb Gold john new Posted August 2, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) The SLS are pleased to report that our historic LNWR locomotive Orion, the only surviving operational Crewe built Webb Compound, will be in steam this weekend at Locomotion, Shildon.Steaming dates for 20133/4 Aug Model Mania event - Locomotion, Shildon21/22 Sep Steam Gala - Locomotion, ShildonLatest information on the engine.After the boiler certificate expired in 2011 the engine was displayed on the Society’s stand at the Warley MRC exhibition at the NEC and then (just like a standard gauge engine) was given a thorough 10 year overhaul. Orion returned to steam during 2012 better than ever as operational experience gained with valve timings etc., was applied.
