Old Cottage and Blacksmiths Forge

Recommended Posts

I have been giving this some thought and as one of the first scratch built buildings I made in the 70's was an Allan Downes inspired Cottage and Blacksmiths Forge, I thought it would be nice to re-visit something similar.

My model back then was 4mm scale and "thatched" with wool and flock powder! The new version will be 7mm scale and probably not thatched - I will post some pics when (and if) I get started

Ooh I just thought 00 gauge 4mm, 'cos thats what we do on our layout in, but for a challenge a 'bigger' gauge might help the pictures look better.

No scale limits, BONUS.

How far is lincoln Cathedral, with a bit of photoshopping?

Hi Jaz,

Yes, I tend to model in 7mm nowadays and have got into the mind set for that scale ie you can almost automatically scale things by eye.

Well I have finished now. Sorry for lack of progress pics but have been without a camera for a little while.

Really nice work Alant, dedication to detail, clean construction ( ie, no dripping glue !) and the whole model has a substantial and feel good factor about it.

Superb.

And get a new camera, wanna see more !!

Cheers.

Allan.

Oh Wow !

That internal detail is awesome !

Thanks Stu. The internal detail is a mixture of parts from S&D (vice and anvil) and some scratch-built bits such as the workbench and some of the tools etc.

Thanks Allan. All I need to do now is to get up to half the speed you can produce things !
