Chameleon
Since when did "need" ever become a factor in buying trains?
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 6, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 6, 2015 With you on that one, but the rot camel needs a sound chip too so maybe that first
artfull dodger
Hiya guys, beautiful models, hopefully 99 6001-4 will make it to HOm scale in the future. For now I am happy to model the HSB in my garden with LGB trains. Hunting a 2-10-2t right now, although it might be beyond my current means. For now I have an old 2080d version of the little 2-6-2t. It could prove to be very tempting to build a small HOm layout indoors this coming winter! Mike

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 7, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 7, 2015 The vintage coaches from Tillig are out and I went for the 2 coach set in green plus brake and the NWE coach with std gauge transporter to get that livery. Makes a nice train and different to the mass of red and cream coaches.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted November 12, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) Ok here's v7 of the plan and I'm not betting it won't develop again. The basic idea is three small layouts that can join together and form a railway you can operate a full service on. Stage 1 is pencilled in for NG South in April so that's 20 weeks vs the 7 to actually build Lulworth. Loosely follows the original station but modernised. And the full plan Edited November 12, 2015 by PaulRhB
backofanenvelope
Like the modular ops mode to it. When you say 3.. you have 4 stations?
bgman
I seem to have noticed that the highlighted yellow capitals when put together form BMW HQ (well almost). Joking apart it looks like an interesting proposal, looking forward to seeing your next stage.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted November 13, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 13, 2015 Like the modular ops mode to it. When you say 3.. you have 4 stations?Well HSB is actually a hidden yard though possibly set out as a station for completing the feel, but basic scenery. I seem to have noticed that the highlighted yellow capitals when put together form BMW HQ (well almost). Joking apart it looks like an interesting proposal, looking forward to seeing your next stage. the highlighted letters are just left from playing with possible train plans to test the layout. I'll see how stage one goes
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 21, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Baseboards are made and track laying will start next week as the point motors have arrived too. In the meantime the SHE is providing some modern freight traffic using container wagons bought after seeing the RhB operation. The well wagons allow Jumbo containers to be carried. This traffic supplies the winter resort at Braunlage even when the snow blocks the roads. More Jumbo containers on the way from DB Cargo and some smaller DHL ones for the 4 wheel wagons. Couplings are the Dapol N gauge ones spliced onto the shaft of the Bemo coupling so there's no damage to the model and I just need a spare bemo one to convert them back to hook and loop. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 23, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2016 Nothing really new in the 2016 leaflet, just the 2015 announcements as final CAD and prototype models. The 2-10-2's slipping back to Autumn. http://www.mbs-sebnitz.de/media/pdfs/prospekte/TILLIG-Schmalspur_NH2016.pdf

Waddon
Sorry to butt in on your thread, but I thought I might mention, in case you are looking for track, that there's a shop in Croydon, South London, its one of those places that buys up old nick-nacks and furniture and offloads it at a low price, anyhow I was in there this week and they had a load of Peco HOm track, from memory it was about 3 or 4 of each of the curved left and right points, a bundle of flexi-track, and an HOm turntable. Their pricing policy seems to be take the Peco list price and divide it in half. Some cheap scenic materials in there too, no rolling stock though. I think the management have no real idea what they are selling although there's one or two guys who are ex-Modelzone working there who are a bit more savvy, they are just non-specialist box shifters really so it might be a good bargain for someone local (they don't have a web presence and don't sell online). The shop is in the Whitgift shopping centre, it's where the old 'Allders' used to be. Not sure of the name of the place but if you go into the Whitgift centre, find the Costa coffee and it's just next to that. Go in the door and turn immediately left and they have what passes for a toys and models section.

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted February 11, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2016 I bought quite a bit of Woodland Scenics in that store last year at very good prices. I havent had chance to go back there since even though I pass through Est Croydon to and from work

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 14, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 14, 2016 It's going to be a gradual process. I'm thinking one section a year. The basic layout of part 1 will be at NGSouth but then I want to really go into detailing it before I move on to part 2.
backofanenvelope
I guessed as much but knowing how fast you work I wouldn't bet on it taking that long.. I am looking forward to seeing this at some point if I get south of Sheffield.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 15, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 15, 2016 A good bit of progress point motor and wiring holes all done and the kadee magnets cut and chiselled in. I've cut the kadee magnets in half and they work fine. There will be figures or posts to mark each one with a photo stuck to the backscene so the operators can remember what their reference point is
