Alexander Models?

Hi All,

I've seen a few excellent models and conversions recently featuring parts for Alexander Models. I know that he doesn't have a website currently, but does anyone have any sort of catalogue, price list, or something similar?

I don't really want anything specific, so I can't really just call him out of the blue and say "Hi, what do you sell?" seems a bit silly.

But "Hi do you have a current catalogue and price list?" might seem like a sensible thing to do and a lot less embarrassing for you.

What you could try is the internet Wayback Machine: http://archive.org/web/

Copy and past the web address you're interested in and it will show you any archived copies it has.The pictures disappear but the pages are still there.

The most recent Alexander Models index page is:

http://www.xclent.freeuk.com/alexander/models.htm

Which leads to 3 pages: Diesel and Electric kits (most now available r-t-r!), Steam Kits, and Accessories.

There is no prices that I could find but this should give you a good idea of what was avaliable.

Luke

He always has his small stand at the Perth Green (Jarrow) in March and North Shields Railex Show in August.

Now that's something I hadn't thought of, thanks Luke!

Perhaps of interest, below is a photo of DA's new Consett Hopper made by Ian Forsyth of Newhaven Club for his Kiln Road layout.

He'd be interested to know if anyone has any end details for these wagons.

I'm sure Dave Bradwell has!

I looked at the website some time ago when it was still 'current' and recall reading that prices weren't being listed because raw material costs were fluctuating too much, so prices would be quoted 'on application'.

Dave had his sales stand at the Exhibition held at Gateshead Stadium last November.

Regards,

I called Dave this week  on the number above - to order a J26/27 kit - which he told me he was in the process of casting up as we spoke. Very pleasant chap. Obviously still in business, he told me he had stopped doing the diesels as they were all coming out RTR, but was forging ahead with new steam outline kits I think he mentioned a Q6 and Y7.

cheers

Rob

Dave's email address is

alexandermodels@fsmail.net

I had a reply from him today

I have spoken to Dave today; he has health issues which, together with the duplication of most of his range of diesel loco kits by Heljan, means that he no longer has a website.

However, he is still able to supply some items, and his current e-mail address is  alexandermodels37@gmail.com .

Regards,

John Isherwood.

Dave was at the Tyneside show a couple of weeks ago and told me that he is still manufacturing some items at least.  I was going to buy some lost wax injector boiler valves which he had on Saturday - but they had gone by Sunday!

Ah, that would have been me, sorry...

Gresley K4, presumably.

I bought the last K4 kit that Dave had with him at the Newcastle show, and had a good chat with him. Good to see him keeping going - he's a true gent. It must have been very frustrating to see so many of his kit range now going to R-T-R though.
