DavidB-AU
Queensland's new NGR700 trains enter service next Monday, only 660 days after the first was delivered! The first public service is 6.25 from Varsity Lakes to Brisbane Airport. Cheers David
jukebox
More West Australian wrong-line running action; This weekend is closure #3, this time the Up Main into Perth is out of action, so it's the inbound IP that is wrong line: Here it is passing through the worksite at Bayswater, with the soon-to-be-commissioned (Monday 4:30am) temporary Up deviation to the right, and the old Up and Down mains further right, still. The latter will be lifted, and a "dive" structure built to allow the tracks to burrow under - and the TBM's to emerge in 2019. The IP headed back out to Forrestfield on the same track - right direction - a few hours later, but will come back in again around 6am tomorrow; if you're quick, you can slip out and grab a photo, too! DavidB-AU
The first public service of the Queensland NGR from Varsity Lakes to Brisbane Airport yesterday. I really like the Aboriginal artwork wraps they got last week before entering service. It's called Travelling by Gilimbaa and "symbolises pathways across the land to the sea, opening up country and connecting the people of Queensland". The Blue Streak
Six Ex Wagr / ARG / QR - DBZ class Locomotives have been now been moved from Forrestfield to storage at various sidings along the GSR having been transferred on empty grain trains hauled by CBH class locos . All need some work done to get them fit for use since being purchased by CBH and how long it is before they are pulling trains again remains to be seen. The 5th and 6th of them - #2302 Shire of Jarrahdale and #2312 Shire of Toodyay were seen on the move today to be stabled at Beverley. In other West Oz news, the first of the rebuilt ex WAGR / NZR / Tasrail narrow gauge D class locos (Now DR) arrived back in WA recently in Watco Livery. Quite sad really. The old South spur / Cube yard is now something to do with the suburbans and the soon to be built midland terminus / railcar depot. In other WA news, there are now 10 DBZ loco's stored at the old CBH siding at Beverely, South of Northam.

PTA have reclaimed the WABCO area, and built a gauntlet, so they can swap standard gauge transit bogies for narrow gauge permanent ones on the extra B-series that will slowly start arriving. Needed to do this, after the old gauntlet at Midland workshops no longer was accessible. In the longer term, Arc Infrastructure (Brookfield Rail) will leave Midland, and the area will become a railcar depot, stabling area, and assembly building. SRman
That's a nice bit of footage, David. It is a fascinating and very scenic part of the trip. I have only ever done it as a passenger on the Brisbane - Sydney trains (and back again), or once only with 'Flying Scotsman' and 3801, Brisbane to Casino return.
