Hi all

Following on from some posts in other topics I wondered whether it might be useful to have Links/Photographs/Google Map references for old tram depots that you know are still around and maybe any infrastructure - tracks poles etc.

(Rather like the "Ghosts in the Machine" railway topic)

I'll re-post the ones I listed again

Carlisle:https://maps.google....p=12,46.63,,0,0

Moseley Road, Birmingham: https://maps.google....p=12,72.59,,0,0

Selly Oak: https://maps.google....=12,266.92,,0,0

Aston Manor still with name clearly visible: https://maps.google....,24.93,,0,-6.71

Miller Street:https://maps.google....,226.72,,0,15.2

Highgate Road:https://maps.google....=12,241.84,,0,0

Coventry Road/Arthur Street (also housed some of the City's Trolley bus fleet!):https://maps.google....2,199.9,,0,9.88

Please feel free to add any you know of

Cheers

Keith

There's a bit left of Hillsborough, Sheffieldhttp://goo.gl/maps/JdkPI

And still has trams running past it...

The target is to photograph 120 the heritage liveried Supertram passing it but it never seems to be on the blue route whenever I'm in Sheffield.

Very good topic, Keith - has prompted me to re-evaluate a couple of heritage sites nearish to me.

Walthamstow, London E17 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-206965-walthamstow-tramway-and-offices-and-depo - depot converted for trolleybuses and later bus garage (demolished), but tramway offices remain.

Former Lea Bridge Tramway Depot, 38-40 Upper Clapton Road, London E5 http://hackneybuildings.org/items/show/19867

The Hythe (Kent) to Sandgate Horse Tramway Stables at Hythe (opposite the Red Lion pub) are just about visible after a fire destroyed the building in front of the stables a few years ago.

Sorry, but not sussed out how to google maps links.....maybe someone can help?

Part of East Hams Tram Depot in Nelson Street, East Ham, London. E6, still exists.

Now in the London Borough of Newham, East Ham’s tram depot is a Grade 2 listed building.

This Edwardian building was partially renovated for reuse in the 1990s, as part of the leisure centre within Newham’s Town Hall (ex-East Ham Town Hall), complex. An image of a tram system in its heyday is engraved on to one of the leisure centre walls. See towards the left of the photo below.

Plymouth Corparation Tram sheds at Milenouse are still extent at the moment, but although listed I believe that they are likely to be demolished in the not to distant future due to neglect although still in use for other purposes. Bits of 3ft 6ins track are still visible in one or two places.

If I remember on the way home from work next week I'll take a photo or two on me phone.

"Queens Road Bus Depot, Manchester.

Also being used as a Bus Museum"

Queens Road Bus Depot was the tram depot, in fact the first Electric tram depot for Manchester Copration Tramways. It is now owned by First. The Bus Museum was never a tram depot it was open as bus depot for the new motor buses, it is the venue for MRX on 17/18th May.

Hyde Road Depot, now Stagecoach Manchester was a tram depot and later a trolleybus depot. Hyde Road Car Works still exists but I am not sure who owns it now, I think it may be the council.

Oldham Depot, now First, was a tram depot.

Here is a bit of track in Rednal which was the terminus for "A day out in the Lickeys" in times past.

It's double track and they converge at the far end.

http://goo.gl/maps/s59bL

There used to be a large loop and covered stops where the trams would queue for the return journey.

The building adjacent to the track (Now the Lai Ling Chinese Restaurant) was also part of the facilities here - It was the toilet block!
