Clash at North Ridge - sci-fi layout

Hi

Welcome to my science-fiction themed layout called 'Clash at North Ridge'. I have mixed Warhammer figures with old trains well past their sell-by date to give them a fresh look. This is a fun layout that creates quite a stir.

This is the web page for it: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/calvertfilm/CalNorthRidge1.htm

And this is the 'trailer' for the layout itself:

Plenty of special effects going on, some on the layout, some added afterwards.

Regards,

Laurie

Now, the trick is to get all those special effects to happen repeatedly at an exhibition. However, I'm not sure I would like to be stood next to it for two days - the noise would be enough to rattle all the tea cups of the rivet counters!!!  :sungum:

Just getting my coat and Darth Vader voice-changer mask now!

That's fantastic - and presumably can also be used to play 40k on?

Well you could I guess. Your dice-throwing hand might have to avoid the lasers ;)

So far it has only been displayed finished at one exhibition and we had two invites to other shows before that one had even opened. I think people like to see something different, and something to perhaps inspire the younger generation into the hobby?

I did present this idea to a manufacturer but they didn't run with it (just yet). Shame - I think it'd make a great starter set.

  • 3 weeks later...

I like this, I can see a market for it.

Don't know how Hornby got on with their Battlezone set but I imagine there is a greater audience out there for a Warhammer / World of Warcraft / Guild Wars / Hobbit type tie in especially if they can produce higher detailed locos than an 08 painted green.

Cheers

Steve

Hi

Not my scene but what a brilliant idea excellently presented & built.....

Certainly would entertain a lot of the younger generation & more importantly widen the potential audience

What a clever idea with all the audience participation to keep people interested.....

BRILLIANT

Cheers Bill
