sb67
I wanted to share some pics of the hunslet shunter I've been building. It's a resin cast kit with a few additions from wire and brass strip. I've finished detailing it and now ready for undercoating and painting, but I cant find any colour pics of the prototype (only a model version from a magazine) so I'm going for all over black with red bufferbeams and I'll weather it similar to a steam engine. Any opinion appreciated. Steve. Edited April 13, 2020 by sb67
Sandy Harper
HI STeve, What scale is this please? Can you include it in the title? Regards Sandy

sb67
Had to wait to get transfers but now the shunters looking shiny and new! Now to give it a coat of matt varnish and then weather it.
sb67
I'm trying to change the look of the Metcalfe Brewey, I've covered the sack hoist and canopy in Scalescenes corrugated iron, not sure whether it should be clapboard though? I'm hoping to give the roof some texture as well. Steve. Edited September 20, 2017 by sb67
sb67
Nearly done my buildings. Just got to weather the roofs and finish the water tank. I tried 2 different methods of building the roofs and much prefer the one on the left. Shame that's not the building at the front of the layout! sb67
Nearly finished my buildings, I'm not too happy with the roofs. It actually doesn't look too bad in the pictures but I was wondering how people painted them? I used Humbrol Tarmac then washes of variations on that colour. I still think it needs a bit of work though. Steve.
sb67
Done as much as I can with my buildings, just got to plant them on the layout and I can get on with the next bit, adding a few weeds etc growing around the base. Steve.
sb67
Wanted to have a go at some weathering techniques so over a couple of evenings I've had a go at a Base toys lorry and fork lift truck. I tried a Valejo weathered wood set for the bed of the lorry, the set is really good but I think the effects are easier to get with larger scale models, I'm reasonably pleased though. sb67
Not sure how it shows up in the photos but I've taken back some of the weathering on the lorry as I thought it looked a bit too dirty. Looking at the picture I wish I could get inside the cab and put a newspaper or something on the dashboard but I've superglued the wheels to stop them moving! Steve. sb67
Had a go at making a Tarpauling to go over a pallet. Used an Idea seen on Mudmagnets Acaccia Avenue thread, wrapped the crate in cling film and then draped some tissue over it and painted it in watered down PVA and left to set. Just need to paint it now. Steve.
sb67
Finished the Tarpaulin, I really like it and I'm wondering what else I can cover! 8

sb67
Had a go at planting some weeds and stuff at the end of my bridge. The pink is meant to be willowherb but it might be a bit bright. I did try some static grass wih a puffer bottle but it didn't go quite to plan. Steve.
sb67
Not a great photo but I've been fence painting, used the lifecolour weathered wood set warm wood colours. When it's all dry I'll add some powder weathering. Steve
sb67
The fence has been put on the layout and weeds added etc. I now fancy having a go at scratchbuilding a small hut similar to the LNER concrete one produced by Scale Model Scenery, cant seem to post a link, but a bit smaller. Does anyone have a suitable photo of a LNER lineside hut? Cheers. Steve.

sb67
Started building my hut, It's not meant to be 100% accurate by a long way and I didn't have the correct windows but I just wanted it to look like an LNER hut. Got to thank Clive Mortimer for sending me some plans. Steve.
sb67
All done except for the roof, just think it's a bit too big for that space though! Steve Edited January 21, 2018 by sb67
