Guest TomTank
As mentioned in the Tornado thread, I was at the A1 convention, and got to handle both prototypes. The A1 is pretty complete but the A2 was unpainted. Here are the pics, have to say the Multi Regulator equipment looks absolutley stunning, the engine is going to look completley awesome and to show the slight difference in length with the A2 with A2 being (correctly) smaller A2 release, April/May 2010
G-BOAF
The A2 is looking good! Looks to be at the same stage as the O2 so it will hopefully be out at a similar time. Easter 2010?? Probably just me and a combination of some distortion in the photographs, but the smoke box looks a bit long. It appears to extend too far in front of chimney (which seems to be correctly centred above the cylinder steam pipes). I've tried comparing the length of the smokebox with the first two boiler bands, and this confirms my suspicions, but then again the Buffers look too long, and the cab seems a bit distorted, so it might be just the pictures Any other opinions Given Bachmann measured the real thing, I find it hard to believe they could have made a fundamenal dimensional error, unless they've been shoehorning an A2 around the tooling for the A1 (for which there was no prototype to measure when they tooled it up!) (no criticism of T. Tank, it is an inherent problem with close-up photography unless you were using professional lenses, in which case I'm worried!) Other than that, looks great :-) can??™t wait ----EDIT---- Now seen pic on the A1 Trust website and less concerned about the smokebox. The marker light juts out further than I was anticipating! http://www.a1steam.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=365:october-17th-18th-barrow-hill-roundhouse&catid=51:2009&Itemid=

Bernard Lamb
Blue Peter and Tudor Minstrel (circa 1965) will be winging their way to Inchkennet! Dave. 'Minstrel' for me as well. Let's hope the model goes better than the original. Very fast for a mile but not able to go any further for those who don't know their race horses. Chameleon
Is Blue Peter in As Preserved condition?
Guest Max Stafford
As she hasn't been subjected to outward physical change (apart from repaints) since retiring in 1966, I suppose she is. Dave.
cbeagleowner
I was reading today how this model is going to have etched brass nameplates which I think is excellent and will be a big improvment over the printed ones on the A1's. I just wonder if this is something that we'll see introduced on othe Bachmann releases (eg A1's) in the future. I must say that I'm hopeful after Bachmann have been revisting stuff like the peaks, which look great.
DLPG
Looking forward to Blue Peter's release, mines on order with the local model shop. Just hope to have a layout ready to run it on

Guest TomTank
Shall check out the pics, deifnately getting Blue Peter for my Heritage Fleet, etch nameplates are a good addition. Just a heads up, TMC are now showing them on there websites (with an early 2010 release marked), with them offering all members of the class, in any livery. http://www.traffordmodelcentre.co.uk/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?product=TMC_Steam!A2_Peppercorn&cart_id=1258590052.313&exact_match=on 60525 'A.H Peppercorn' and 60538 'Velocity' for me please
Chameleon
Apparently Tornado is due out in a couple of weeks. Guess they are trying to get them out in time for Christmas. Also, what is the point of TMC producing Blue Peter for 160 squid when that is the loco Bachmann are producing?
Guest TomTank
I hear the A2s were at Warley today, in all liveries! I don't surpose anyone has any pictures?
Dan Hill
I too would like to see the A2 model if it was there.
Guest TomTank
It's been mentioned by some in the Tornado thread, that she could be out in 2 weeks, from what I have heard on here the A2s looked pretty complete (any pics chaps) so I'm just wondering if anything was said about a release date on the A2s?
Chameleon
I think it was inferred that it is still a couple of months away so you are looking at the new year at the earliest. It's all down to finding a production slot at the factory. Things like chinese new year etc don't help either.
Horsetan
Hmm....wonder if Dave Bradwell can be encouraged to design an all-singing, all-dancing chassis kit for this, just like he did for the A1.....
Guest Max Stafford
I don't think he will need a huge amount of persuasion, Horse. There's not a gulf of difference between the two types below the footplate, other than wheel and cylinder diameter. Dave.
Guest Max Stafford
Seeing the decorated sample of 60532 in the case at Wigan has convinced me that my anticipation of the A2 is wholly justified! Dave.
CUTLER2579
I would fully endorse Dave's view having dribbled over the A2 and O4 at an excellent Wigan Show (as always). Just as I give up "oo" gauge for 7mm the two latest Eastern Region offerings from Bachmann look as good as it gets. Hats off to Barwell.
