OHE Drawings. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I have been browsing and making uses of the excellent OHE drawings member Clive Mortimore has made. I am using the information he posted to make models for the game "TrainSimulator". I will be giving the models away for free for anyone to use in game along with the source files (I am using Blender to create the models).

I would like to say a huge thank you to Clive for all the drawings and posts he has made. They really have been vital in getting me this far.

A few images of what I have made so far (Mk3a Cantilever with various reach's and 23cm or 38cm of stagger). As the images are quite big I have provided links rather than inline images.

If Clive happens to read this post I also have a request. Many of your images include some measurements but they are for making scale models. Do you have any images with the real world measurements on? I believe I saw a post which said multiply the measurements by 76 if I wanted the "real world" equivalents. Is that correct?

I am currently adding the midpoint mast and overlap mast variants to my Mk3a models. Then I will be moving onto headspan versions. Do you have any drawings of the arm which attaches to the crossspan and headspan wires and supports the wires (with dimensions) for headspan. That is the main thing I am struggling to find right now.

Once again thank you for all your drawings. A great resource.

Finally if anyone on here has TrainSimulator then you can download a working copy of what I have made in this post on TrainSimDev.com. Unfortunately there is a bug in the game (that should be fixed very soon) where placing OHE using the Auto tools causes them to float about 1m off the ground (not ideal!).

Thanks JB

Try this link. Never really shared screenshots before using Steam. It might be working now. Changed a setting or two.

It is the TrainSimulator by DoveTail games. I used to use MSTS many moons ago but never managed to create any content or get the editor working with MSTS. When RailSimulator (which has become TrainSimulator) was released I got straight into creating content for that.

That would be good. Please do give them a try and give some feedback if you can. As I have indicated when using the automatic placement tool currently everything floats higher than they should. You can still test them etc but this is a bug with the core game that should be fixed very soon. I was lucky enough to have a backup of a slightly older version of the game before the bug was introduced so was able to developer and test without the auto placement issue.

Thanks again.

Hi Jim

First the history of the drawings. I had a small collection of photo copies of BR drawings given to me. From these I drew them for me as a modelling aid, hence they are drawn with dimensions for a 1/76th scale model. Soon after I started to draw them my friend Andi (Dagworth) started to put knitting on his layout so I sent him my drawings which I know he found helpful as I got asked to help him with other drawings, from there it snowballed. I did some CDs with them on for a DEMU Showcase a few years ago. I did have a website with them on but my host became greedy so I let the site die. In between time I have been party to some more BR drawings and some items like Headspan need to be modified slightly. I have loads of other drawings, loads to revise and loads to do. Trouble is I have not been in a OLE mood for some time, sorry everyone.

As I have said I have to revise my Headspan drawings and I do have quite a bit of information on headspan registration arms.

Lastly thank you for your kind words.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for taking the time to give me background info. No problem with not being in an OLE mood. If that changes I shall look forward to the updates. Especially if it is headspan related. If it is of any use I would be more than happy to host a copy of your CD on my site (TrainSimDev.com) or if you wanted a little free server space I am sure I can sort something out on my host for you. I know you have been putting up your content in posts on RMWeb but thought I would offer anyway. If I can help don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks

Jim
