Andy Y
Bachmann Europe Plc announces 2014 programme20/07/2014 New announcements made as Bachmann celebrates 25 years in Europe The annual new product announcements from Bachmann Branchline and Graham Farish were made today at an event to celebrate the company’s 25th Anniversary in 2014. Bachmann’s Managing Director, Graham Hubbard said today “I cannot believe it is 25 years since my wife Ros and I walked into the then empty warehouse and started Bachmann here in the UK. Today we are a highly successful award winning brand with some 50 employees. I am also delighted that Mr Kenneth Ting, the Chairman of our parent company, Kader has travelled from Hong Kong to share our very special weekend with us. The last 25 years has been an epic journey for us and one that has ensured that Bachmann is a truly established international model railway company operating in America, Britain, China and Germany. The story is on going and I look forward to seeing the company go from strength to strength over the coming years”. During the event Bachmann announced several new models that will be available over the coming 18 months. It also displayed the other ranges it distributes including EFE (Exclusive First Editions) model road vehicles and tube trains and the world famous W. Britain range of model soldiers. We at Bachmann are pleased to unveil our new programme for 2014 from Bachmann Branchline. In celebration of our 25th year of trading we have some incredible new announcements including that of our first venture into the world of narrow gauge, with a new OO9 range of locomotives, rolling stock and buildings. Our Branchline OO scale range continues to impress with the introduction of a number of new products, including the H2 Atlantic, Class 90 Electric and Freightliner flat wagons. Additional stories will be posted over the coming weeks as we reveal our new and exciting plans to you, our dedicated modellers and collectors across the world. New announcements from Scenecraft20/07/2014 Our extensive Scenecraft range of fully painted and decorated model buildings continues to expand with a number of new items for 2014, adding the next level of realism to model railway layouts, dioramas and many other scenic applications. Particularly notable in OO is the Container Crane, an impressive statement piece that is an ideal companion for our new Freightliner flat wagons and adds a new dimension to dockside scenes. A Rail Milk Depot adds to our range of low relief buildings and a System-Built Post-War Station, based on Forest Hill in South-East London, gives a boost to the options available for station construction along with new platforms (including Curved Platform Radii) and a Double Track Rail Over Road Bridge. DLPG
Disappointed to be honest was expecting something great for 25 years. To be fair was not expecting anything more than disappointment, real shame.
darren01
well just one loco on the list as new, every other loco had already announced, was hoping for a bit more.
RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2014 Hmm. Apart from the OO9, it's a pretty quiet announcement as far as I can tell. Especially so for the 25th anniversary. Am I wrong, or are there no new OO steam locos at all?
Fireline
Yawn. And so to next year....
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 Is there to be an NRM announcement? I think it might be in order to quote the following communication from the NRM - 'Locomotion (NRM at Shildon) will reveal details of the next Exclusive edition to the NRM's 'National Collection In Miniature' model railway series on ... 29 July 2014' So you might have to wait a while unless a sample happens to break cover today or tomorrow at Barwell. martin_l_jones
I guess they haven't gone mad to avoid further delays and disappointment, a Class 37 in Colas is very nice, a Class 90 is a big surprise but been rumoured.... I guess a Colas Class 70 MUST be the next club model !!

ady77014
Well... that seems very little. Having said that didn't they say only three new models? But I didn't realize that covered both scales. The 009 gauge items must have excited someone though?
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 That has to have been the biggest build up to absolutely nothing. Looks like Heljan's taking the blue box lead this year. What 'big build up' - I'm not aware of masses of Bachmann publicity and hints and all the rest of it - they simply announced a revised date and linked it to their 25th anniversary. And they've come up with a clever WWI link with a move into 009, bit more of a WWI anniversary idea than we've seen from elsewhere.
kevpeo
New class 90! Nuff said. Kev.
Mike at C&M
Volume wise, we effectively have half a year's announcement, so it was never going to be huge in terms of volumes of brand new tooling. Some excellent choices on re-liveries, and also on the re-introduction of new versions of models that have sold well when they were first released.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 What 'big build up' Quite. The frothing we engaged in was not of Barwell's making. And a year of playing catch-up with things already announced but as yet unavailable will get supply issues "straight". A bird in the hand and all that. gridwatcher
Class 90 a brave move....and so to the catenary question. It is becoming a little silly that we have bits and bobs and promises but no 'system' of RT-plant masts and the like except Dapols posts. FFG FGA is an excellent decision

RMweb Premium richierich Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2014 Looking forward to seeing class 20 D8028 in RF red stripe - must be an error lol Surprised at few sector locos. A 47 in RF distribution would be nice. Or just plan old BR blue with high intensity headlight, as plenty of those running around until the early 90s, so will be interesting to see a pic of 47001 and what period it represents? 37/7 in RF petroleum is welcome, shame the coal sector one isn't available without sound. But the 37s are always a good seller. Surprised at another venture into 25kV AC electrics in the Class 90 . . . . Overall I think my wallet is safe. . . . Markeg
The class 90 is needed. 009 is a surprise. And some already announced items. But there is nothing for me. I have ordered the E4 in preserved SR livery and will await that. Will look to the NRM announcement. Hopefully a C1, but that will be in GNR livery. I have a LNER version. But overall disappointed, can save my bickies for other items, such as a LNER G5 and J21. Mark in OZ
S.A.C Martin
Surprised at the models just going into the drawing stage, including the previously announced Brighton Atlantic and V1/V3 retool. The Thompsons too. Class 90 will please a lot of people and will put Hornbys ancient offering to the grave no doubt. Really not a lot for me there but it'll please other modellers so not a bad announcement. The 009 range sounds interesting but there doesn't seem to be much to go on. For the LNER modeller, I suspect we'll be waiting for the NRM announcement next week... Watch this space I guess.
